Hair follicles making my dreads rough?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hi guys, so I've only been dreading for 2 months but I've noticed a lot of white dots attached to the end of some of the hairs and I'm pretty sure it's the hair follicle. Anyway, it's making my dreads really rough and not very nice to touch at all. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this? It's kinda scratchy on my back and my boyfriend doesn't really enjoy touching my hair because of it.

WHITE STUFF IN DREADS!! PLEASE HELP! (PICS!!)

Dread Maintenance

What kind of shampoo do you use? It looks like some kind of residue. Also do you have hard water?

So frustrated

Help! Save My Dreads

A bit of webbing at the roots is okay. Mine is like that too. As long as the body of the dread isn't stuck together you should be fine!

Meh, I haven't been sick yet. Everything causes cancer nowadays. I just live my life without worrying about that stuff anymore. But Some people do I understand.

Dr. Bronners is another good soap to use. No sls. The other day I filled up my bathtub and put in like an ounce or 2 of soap and just kinda soaked in it. Dreads and body and all and just kinda used my fingers to massage it on everything. Then I just rinsed off with coldish water. I felt super clean afterwards and didn't have to worry about scrubbing my hair. Plus the rest of my body was clean too! I think that's how I'm going to do it from now on.

sls is harmfull the cancer society has recomended it be removed from everythin g its a cancer causer it also causes dandruff psoriasis dermatitis hair loss and if thats not enough..cancer but ofcourse u need to have enogh exposure to get cancer ..likeas in its in every shampoo toothpaste soap dish soap laundry detergent yea u have to bathe in it brush your teeth in it etc...oh..wait..you do

sls should be avoided ..its nearly impossible to avoid it entirely but u sure shouldnt acceopt it in absolutely everything u use

Ive used squeeky green on my dreads and had no problems. the sls just makes it lather, it's in most everything that lathers up. some say it's harmful but i really don't think it's that big a deal. my hair always felt really clean after washing with it and never felt like there was residue left behind. but if you're unsure about it, you should use your gift card on a face mask or bath bomb or something. lush is awesome!

Washing with the Dr.

Dread Maintenance

Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I'll stick with the soap I have until it runs out though. I use dr bronners for my face and it's awesome. I just don't want a residue since I have hard water :)

Washing with the Dr.

Dread Maintenance

So I have some Dr. Bronners and my question is how do I wash with it? I know I'm supposed to dilute it since it's super concentrated but do I just kind of pour it on my hair and let it sit there like with the BS? On the bottle's instructions it says to fingertip massage it onto your hair and scalp with a washcloth. Is that what I'm supposed to do?Sorry for the stupid question but I really want to know lol. Thanks in advance!
