Introduce Yourself

nobody mentioned that root rubbing can pull literaly half your hair right out of your scalp

dreads dont need any of what your doing ive had mine 27 years, they are 10 feet long and I have never done anything to them at all..not even palm rolling

and no backcomb to start they started by going camping..thats it..

rainbow08wyoming103.JPG

this is them at just 18 years they literaly take care of themselves just wash and separate and absolutely nothing else

that way they stay healthy strong and last a lifetime

Introduce Yourself

Travelerwanted:

@bazooka-guru I'll try to get somme pics of mine up soon.  Problem is, all the good pics I have, are on my dead phone (Who knew phones didn't like baths in dirty dishwater)

@Dread-stpauli I only notice the weight really when I go to the pool (Which is something I don't do too often).  Though I still think the steel toed boots I have to wear at work weigh more than my locks!  I was worried that it would be more of a problem but so far it's not.

mine are 10 feet long I only notice the weight when soaking wet, or a lil bit if thy are tid up off balance (pulling to 1 side) or loose enough to wobble around

well even when tied up tight and balanced I feel more 'inertia' when turning my head so it adds a lil weight but not enough to bother me

9 Months

Member Journals and Timelines

2 1/2 inches are huuuuge they will dry very very slowly (judge by the area of the scalpte hairs coing from backcmbed dreads tend to look like fat ausages then thin as they tighten, all others thicken as they mature) accidental congoes can be hard to aoid especialy with thick dreads that would be a 5 inch thicjk dread..thicker then your bicept

that can be pretty hard to care for

A BIG Hello!!

Introduce Yourself

procrastiNAT: Thank you guys! They have definitely shaped up significantly in the last few months, to the point where I'm starting to love them!! My mom still thinks they look like cat turds on my head. Some friends try to convince me to get rid of them. I've also noticed old friends disappearing, but it's opened me up for New ones as well!! Random people who think I'm a big druggie and others that love that I'm willing to just be myself! Definitely opens your eyes a bit to the things/people you invested so much time in! I'm starting to see everything for what it really is, and I don't regret a minute of it!

you got a new friend right here!

thy look amazing.. why did I think you were a guy all this time? I cant tell how old you might be but I think your old enough that saying your incredibly attractive with dreads isn't creepy hhe

you look beautiful! they are chunky when short so that cat turd remark can be overlooked  but when thy are 8 or 12 inches longer they will  be epicly beautiful and all those people will admire them

friends you lose over hair aren't friends they are people that want something from you.. probably having good kookig frind matters that much to them..shalow

do you remember any truly meaningful conversations that showed they cared deeply about you? I doubt it

1-2 inches will help the liquid dreadlockshampoo will help

the extra length especially

roll around in your sleep

between the locin up liquid and a couple months growth you should see changes starting

some hair might dread slow..yours possibly might be that rare case even as it gets longer but have no fear look at ixchel or ixchelle I forget how she spells it hers took longer then anyones the sectioning stagbe was loooong but omg so gorgouse and when it finaly dreaded they are by far the most unique dreads n here! dont worry about it taking long that just meansthat much more character and uniqueness

Dealing with the negativity...

General Talk

for 15 years everytime I looked In my moms direction she made scissor motions with her fingers.. every single convo involved 'I wish youd cut that you'll never get anywhere in life' 'don't you want a girlfreind' and so on. I was excluded from all family stuff

"i'm embarrassed to be seen with you"  then we went xmass shopping, 8-10 grey haired old ladies surrounded me saying they never saw such beautiful hair.  every 8th to 10th person that walked by said "I love your dreads' others just out of earshot (where my parents we behind me) were overheard saying did you see his amazing hair'  the people that care about you care how you reflect on them as parents or freins thy are worred what others think..more then you are

that year I got a tam from my parnts and never once heard anoter negative commet in fact they started bragging to other dreads about mmy dreads

in the past they would never have spoken to anyone who wasn't a yuppy type

now in a related thing, years ago on a forum a kid posted 'am I ugly' with a photo

he wasn't ugly nor attractive just average, but he got like 2000 replies siome saying no you just eed confidence others offering styling tips to make him feel more attractive and more then a dozrn girls flirting with him

then 1 guy and 1 guy only replied "yes yoir the ugliest person I ever say its painful to look at you I barfed in my mouth'

out of 2000 replies that was the only 1 he reacted to or replied to saing what makes you ay that what can I change etc

you see the point is no matter what you do, how you dress or wear your hair how you look  you'll get people seeig beauty in you and others being very negative 9(either as I said cause they are concerned how you reflect ont them, but in the case of stranges its a misery they suffer from so inflict on others to make themselves feel superior and less miserable)

what type person are you/ the type to dwell on 1 negative comment out of thousands of positives? or someone who accepts compliments and realizes there are jealous haters out there

in all my years dreading outside my mom and a dozen others I have had 99.9999999999456434566543456% positive commebts (close guess as I can remember less then 5 or 6  negatie and possibly millions of possitive

oh..i don't count locticians they use shame to steal your money

every single locticians said they looked nasty even while surrounded by dozens praising themas the best dreads they ever saw

Hello!

Introduce Yourself

welcome yes wash wash wash the more you wash the faster they lock

locking powders are scams they are just dirt..kinda literaly just dirt sprinkle dirt in your hair and the grit makes them feel ay more kotty,, wash it out and no more knottiness they are a total ripoff and any site selling them needs boycotting

the dreadlockshampoo.com liquids formulated to make hair dread fast..normally youd be near ready to switch to the bars  but you made a lot of mistakes that really delayed progress

so start by washig often with the liquid, every 3-7 days

when they settle down and stop being so wild and have way less frizz then switch to the bars

Using oil

Dread Maintenance

essential oils are not oily and you use only drops these treat medical conditions  other oils are for dry scalp and hair

I would bet they were salon dreads or crocheted and were less mature in reality. hang times good I am betting that she used a thick oil maybe even wax that held the hairs in place faking maturity. otherwise I cant guess what she meant b hang time and oil fixing it
