Everyone had been pretty much fine with my new dreads, even at their messiest all I would get was a bit of a stare and a smile. Now that I've thrown a few beads in the mix nearly every one of my male co-workers has commented. From "did you put beads in your hair?" (Duh) to "dude you've got shit in your hair" (Yes I rubbed shit through my hair cos it's dreadlocks, who's askin?) I figured dark brown beads matching my hair colour wouldn't be an issue. I think it's the male vs accessories battle but when I counter a negative comment with "aren't you wearing a necklace and multiple rings?" I get a stammered response that it's different because it's male jewellery.Boys, sheesh!

Yep, I agree. Your dreads really suit you and it's be a shame if you decide to get rid of them. This is my own opinion though based purely on a single pic. I truly hope you try getting them as clean as you can and let them develop naturally a little further before making the decision. Not sure why you washed them so seldomly but twice a week keeps mine sweet as hell and they're only 2 months old. Yours will rock hard if you want em to :DGood luck Jenna.

Hey man, I didn't see this thread when you posted it but I wanna leave a comment anyway. Really glad you're enjoying growing your hair and it's showing you some progress dreading. Doing it for yourself is the only way, forget the negative comments. but you already know this:)On a more blah note, if you and your ex don't work things out, remember it's not the end of the world. It might not ever happen, or it might not be the right time for you guys just yet. I went through this same thing at the beginning of the year and though I still get hyper emo over thinking about her, I know my life will go on and I have great positive energies in my family and friends. I know you'll be fine and have the support you need but I just want to make sure it stays fresh in your mind that you'll be fine.Hope you drop back into the site again real soon.

If you can manage to get rid of all the wax and whatever she's put in your hair, take out the sections she thought you should have, give it another wash for good measure then leave it for a few days. Without combing or brushing, you'll see where your hair will naturally section to. This will give you a good indication of where to twist & rip if that's gonna be your choice. Otherwise the sections will dread anyway. T&R will give you a little more control over the size of each lock and a little leg up on the start of the process. They'll loosen and tighten but the dreads will be on their way, no sticky plop in em, hanging free and looking deadly!Good luck!

Dude you have tons of hair just let it dread. If you're seriously fascinated with having dreads you're gonna have to wait it out. Twist & rip real good and they'll hold pretty well. Washing regularly, lotsa wind and salty water, sunshine, sleeping on it, letting it be messy if that's how it feels, washing regularly, lotsa wind and... so on & so forth. Once a few weeks have passed the sense of peace and self satisfaction from being patient will add to the smile as you watch the beautiful formation of your dreads. Just chill, go with the flow:)
