Sadness

General Talk

I didn't think I was joining a group full of capitalists sitting in their expensive apartments. I thought I was joining a group that practiced one love, peace in diversity. I would much rather here honesty too....sure, (purpose of this post) but what I see and hear here is more people judging others for the way they live their lives then honestly.I wasn't, by any means, calling any one specific person out. I was merely stating my opinion overall. Me being honest with how I feel and I wasn't pointing fingers. If someone took offense to my sadness, I'll be happy to keep it to myself next time.

Well I know I personally can have a sharp, and maybe perceived as childish, tongue at times...but real love is respecting everyone - also those who are negative =)

If a person doesn't contain these negative vibes themselves there will not be any resonance-point in them and they will not be affected by reading negative things.

What do you mean by 'a people'?..hippies?....sorry but 95% of the old flower children I know are now capitalists sitting comfortably in expensive apartments...people just can't be generalized :P

Personally I prefer some honest negative emotions over a pretentious love concept any day....and sorry if that sounded negative but it's how I feel.

Sadness

General Talk

It is unbelievable to me how much animosity there is all over this site. For a people that is supposed to be all about love and peace and harmony I see more anger and discord on this website, through numerous threads, then I do in my every day life...which is shocking since I work with detoxing drug addicts on a daily basis! I was hoping for some love and acceptance on this site...alas...I guess humans are human no matter where I search for something different.

How often do you do your hair like that?

General Talk

@ Panterra: I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful grandma! Thank you for sharing...she can see your dreads now hon! :D...and O'Callaghan...yes! She is a pistol! Super fun! I'm so grateful I get to have this time with her as she's so close to that other side of the veil and her views are quite different and change everyday. I get to build an amazing relationship with her, even tho' she doesn't know who I am! :D

How often do you do your hair like that?

General Talk

Haha! I love the older generation!I get people that ask me "How often do you do your hair like this?...they'll ask, "how long does it take?" I finally figured out that most of these questions are from people that are thinking it's a "daily hairstyle"! They're not understanding that this is my hair now...I have dread locks! I didn't wake up this morning and "style" my hair like this! The best part is the look on their face when they find out! Some people get interested, and other's get this ever so slight look of disgust. I can't help but love it.The best is my grandma. She'll be 94 on Dec. 9th. She's in the late stages of Alzheimer's. I'm one of her care takers. She doesn't know who anybody is ever, even right after you tell her. She was always this very proper, religious, conservative....and I hate to say it....but judgmental, woman. Amazing and smart and beautiful, but slightly closed minded. She'd tell ya EXACTLY what she thought. Ie: too fat, too skinny, not wearing enough clothes, etc etc... So now, I'm thinking she's got a slightly different view on life! She'll grab ahold of one of my locks with this very confused look on her face...then she'll pat it down and say "your hair is soooo beautiful!" She's great...I'll tell her that not all people like my hair...she says "you can do whatever the hell you wanna do!" I love my grandma!Anybody relate? Any fun stories?

Essence (Humanity) v.s Discrimination (Ego)

General Talk

This is an incredible post! I really love this...informative AND inspirational!I was raised in a very religious community...I was 12 years old when I discovered that there was anything else out there besides that specific religion. I was amazed to learn that there are many different beliefs and ways of life! I'm grateful to be more experienced today... to find a belief system that fits me and feels right, less conflicting in my heart.I love that the main focus to this thread is LOVE! I truly believe that most people are good at heart and try to live to the best of there ability...based on what they know...I have found that the less I "know" the more willing I am to learn! I get to have ideas and those ideas change and grow the more open I choose to be.Thank you for this post.

Just beginning

Introduce Yourself

Welcome to the site! Can't wait for pics! :DBandanas and hats actually help them dread! Wool is the best. Wearing a wool tam at night when you sleep, or just covering your pillow case with a wool sweater or something will help a ton. I've noticed HUGE differences since I started with my wool tam.Good luck!Peace

Mane N Tails Shampoo on Dreads

Dread Maintenance

wow...mane n tail always left my hair supa silky and smooth...I loved it when I had straight hair...so I would be a little afraid of it making the dreads fall out...but if its helping, then the only thing I would worry about would be what kind of residues it's leaving. If you can't rinse all of it out completely you might be opening yourself up to the possibility of mold.

Obnoxious beeping sound...?

General Questions

Wow! Your right! That's exactly what it is! Only one thing...is there a way to turn the sound off without muting my computer or without going "offline" I can't seem to find a link to shut it off...either that or it just didn't work...I found a a mute button just above the dialogue box, but it still beeps...I just went offline and its better tho! :D
