My dreadlocks have been cut!

Strangely enough, last night I dreamt that my dreads got cut - and I must admit in my dream I was devastated.I understand that people cut them off for many various reasons and we cant judge their decisions, but after my dream last night - I just don't think I could handle having my dreads taken away from me. WE have been through so much bullshit this year together

My dreads are almost approaching the 1 year mark. I too, am seeing that they are a lot thinnner at the roots. It has me a little worried but i also think that there arent going to be many loose/dead hiairs towards the roots, which is why they may be thicker down the length of my dread. Must admit i havent really touched my dreads in the last 4 months apart from putting extensions in.But would love to hear more advice on this subject because as i said - i am a little worried too.

The smell reminds me of bourbon - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm im drinking my jimmy beam straight and the smell keeps reminding me of dread wax. - if only the wax could get us drunk...... someone should invent that a bourbon lollipop!maybe we should try putting bourbon in our dreads!!!!!sorry everyone - kinda had a bit to drink!!!!!! you all have an outrageous weekend eh???love peace empathy desire and mischief mothers!!!

backcombed dreads came undone alot! is this normal!?

i always say it depends on how you backcomb them. Gently and slow worked perfect for me and i had the odds stacked against me. i had short hair (4-5 inches), i have oily scalp and hair and it is dead straight.i used a metal lice comb that actually had two rows of teeth and i backcombed one inch at a time. it took about an hour per dread. Didnt cause any damage to my hair and looked great afterwards. never did the knots start to fall back out apart from the few dreads at the base of my neck.

yeah - im actually extending my dreads at the moment, same principle though. I have seen alden's way of attaching them but i prefer the way Vibrata did hers. If you wanted to you could use a wool needle instead of crochet hook as it is less damaging http://quinnster.fqdn.net/dreads/vibrata.html Beksta is also a good one to hit up for advice on re-attaching dreads.

i found that i cant force my dreads to be something they dont want to be. Even with backcombing in the beginning - my hair picked how it wanted to section and with what other hairs they wanted to include in their exclusive little dread clubs. I have 65 little dreadclubs on my head that all have a by-invitation-only membership. And they are always throwing out the strays too (loose hairs). hahahahaSounds strange but im strange and they are strange - but they are happy!
