Should I get a trim before I start dreading?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I really have no idea but my personal experience was that the dry split ends actually helped knot better. But that's just me.

Dread ignorance

Life Issues Facing Dreads

No one could understand my journey at first. Everyone was like "your dreads are falling out" or "you should get them fixed". I tried to explain but mostly just ignored the comments. It is now that maturing that they can understand. Most are in awe of how my hair did this all alone! Just takes patience

dread residue

General Questions

Im using 1/2 cup BS to 5 cups water. I would boil the water but not pour it. I add the BS while hot so it dissolves and dip my had in it for a minute (I use a bowl) them I just pour it over my head and leave it for 15. Then I get in the shower and rinse for an eternity. with the bar I tried using it strong but it just coated all my hair from root to tip. Its getting frustrating

dread residue

General Questions

Well i have a problem. It seems my hair collects residue easier than most. I used BS/acv , and recently stared using dreadlocksshampoo bar and I get this whitish residue in them when they dry. They kind of look like they hadbaby powdef on them. I tried boiling the water but it still happens. I know its residue cause yesterday I used neutrogena antiresidue shampoo and they are finally clean. But its got loss of chemicals and says to only use weekly. What am I doing wrong. I thought the bar was good with hard water. I can stand under the shower for 20 minutes rinsing and still. Help.

Root issues.

Dread Maintenance

My hair is curly and I love not having those stupid looking divisions. The roots are all interconnected but grow out well. I separate weekly or biweekly (when I wash) but at first allmost daily. It gets better with time

One Stubborn Lock

Introduce Yourself

At 5 months after T&R I had like 4 sections which looked like normal hair (curly). Completely loose. The rest was really good and locked. I just left it alone and all of the sudden they tangled and locked by themselves. And I don't know how.... But I 2 months alone they caught up with all the rest. Can't even tell which they are. Just patience.let it do its thing.

Knots at the tips

Dreading Methods

I had lots like that. I did TnR and all came loose. On some all that was left were little hair balls but it eventually worked itself out. It kept the section together and then dreaded up. I'm at 7 months now and I'ts all even.. Can't tell witch had balls at the end. Patience, time will fix it. And yeah, they have blunted tips, but its no big deal, kinda look cool all mixed up.
