I get not running through your hair with your fingers. Try grabbing a section and flipping it backwards, over your head. Like you would with long hair to get it out of your face. When they are mature and long, this will be so much fun cause they'll weigh more and kind of thud against your back. Plus it keeps your hands busy and not combing through your hair

You could always tie them back in a ponytail. I love to tie mine up in a bun when it's hot out. It takes them off of your neck.
To make them professional look, ponytails are great. Buns are just as nice. If you want a really cool looking ponytail, check out Jesusfreedmysoul's video. I used it for my wedding. It's kind of hard to explain, but unbelievably easy to do. You split your hair down the middle, and twist them then tie them together with a wrap or a loose hair tie.
Unsure whether to carry on with neglect dreading

When I first started my hair was about 5 inches long. I had one lock, that when fully mature it was only 1 inch long. I was really depressed about it. I know how you feel. Because my hair grows VERY slow.
Not to mention that I was one of those rare individuals that saw just about no progress for a full year. So after a year I would have thought my locks would be much longer. Instead they were half the length or even less.
6 years later, that 1inch lock is 18 inches long. And the others that were 3-4 inches long when mature are now 16-18 inches long.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone goes through that shrinking phase, and that it can be very stressful. But when they lock up, your hair will grow unreasonably fast. You'll have your long hair back sooner than you think. I have never had hair this long before. And I can't wait till it's even longer.
You could try and take biotin. It doesn't do anything for about 3 months. But once it starts, it really makes your hair grow. I mean, my hair used to grow about 2 inches a year. After 2 months of using it, I am already seeing a bit of a growth spurt. So it does help a lot

No worries about the webcam pics. They are starting to mat up nicely. I can see dozens of sections starting to creep up. They may straighten out a bit when you wash, but once dry again, you should see them form again. Congrats

The less you worry about your hair the more you become you, a person who just so happens to have locks. Instead of that guy-with-locks.
That's why I always try to recommend people take down and cover up their mirrors for a few months. If you can't look at yourself every day except in car windows and your shadow, you will be much happier with the progress just by the feel of them

General Questions
I've had a lock or 2 fall out. It does happen on occasion.
Did you do any maintenance other than the original TnR and back combing? Back combing takes a toll. It putsunnecessarytorque on your roots. It tends to pull out lots of hairs and hurt the integrity of the lock.
Hopefully the one you lost was just a fluke. But in case it wasn't, leave your locks alone for a while and see if the roots fix thmselves

The locks in the picture are at least 2 years old. Her's definitely looked goofy in the beginning.
Like Eagle said, you loop laces to tie them into knots. That's what your hair's doing. It;s looping in order to knot. In time those loops go away and get pulled down. You will eventually have locks that are nice and tight with a few bumps where a loop was and got flattened out. Some loops may never go away. But they need to go through that loopy bumpy stage to get to where you want them

It may not start locking right now, but you will definitely start seeing it section itself off, getting ready to lock. You may as well start right away.
And Biotin works great. If you start taking it now, you won't see much progress for about 3 months, but in those 3 months your hair will grow out more, and then it will start to explode with growth
