We need a "My hair won't naturally dread" support group!

Dreading Methods

SE you are one of the most confrontational people I have ever encountered. You make me feel like I shouldn't comment on anything, because you are just going to belittle my thoughts and actions. I hate the way this forum males me feel but for some reason I keep coming back to offer my own experiences so people know that there are other options.

I hope I never meet you in real life because I am pretty sure you would find a way to make me cry.

Dreading Methods

I left mine to go natural for a year before backcombing and I had no real results. I used to wash with diluted dish soap every couple days. I'm sure if I had waited another year or so it would have worked out tho, I just have very silky hair that at the time was only to my shoulders.

You're definitely not alone :) but you are going to have to be a whole lot more patient. My back-combed dreads were pretty straggly at three weeks and didn't start looking like dreads for about 8 months.

Jobs and dreads.

Life Issues Facing Dreads

keep you dreads up/ covered when you are at work, and be the most awesome employee they have ever had.

If that doesn't work, figure out your priorities.

First Job

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I have never had a problem getting jobs with my dreads, but I have always worked in pretty open environments.

General Questions

Make sure you don't get one with bleach, or one that's supposed to make your hands soft!

I do a quarter sized blob in a milk jug tho.. extra diluted

for my dry winter scalp

about the same as dr bronners... probably 20:1

Helloo! help on what to do!

Introduce Yourself

dish soap and very hot water will help a lot. Just wash with tat a couple times.... If you're lucky you will already have some in your house too.

Don't crochet anymore, and some will fall apart, but it will get a lot better given a few months. you don't want to kill your hair before it can start to dread.

chemicals got stuck in my hair after dying NEED HELP FAST!

Help! Save My Dreads

don't use the conditioner it came with!!!!! that stuff is a menace to hair. I didn't even use it on my undreaded hair ...I would dye it every other weak with cheap store dye but never use their conditioner. That condition is so residue heavy that it made my straight hair feel greasy after using it. I can't imagine trying to get it out of dreads

You just need to soak and rinse like crazy, maybe even wash your hair with something mild like Dr. Bronners.
