Maybe I would be the only member?

Is there anyone else here like me? I have not put a brush or comb in my hair in over 3 weeks. I actually never comb or brush my hair and it is still as straight and tangle free as ever. When I dreaded last time I had to put in a huge amount of effort. It just seems wrong to put in that much effort to something that is supposed to be natural and effortless. Maybe my natural state is straight and untangled?

Am I alone in this?

Before three weeks ago I had not combed or brushed for months! Three weeks ago I messed around with some extensions and that was the first time a comb had been in my hair in months.

I forgot about doing sea salt. I just picked up some at Whole Foods this week, maybe I will try some.

I wash with Dr B's soap 3 times a week and I let it air dry after towel drying a bit. I am a totally low maintenance woman :)

I left mine to go natural for a year before backcombing and I had no real results. I used to wash with diluted dish soap every couple days. I'm sure if I had waited another year or so it would have worked out tho, I just have very silky hair that at the time was only to my shoulders.

You're definitely not alone :) but you are going to have to be a whole lot more patient. My back-combed dreads were pretty straggly at three weeks and didn't start looking like dreads for about 8 months.

yep, unfortunately we all have different hair types. Neglect dosen't work for everyone no matter what people say.

Er, neglect actually does work for everyone. There's no hair out there that undoes its own knots. Well, maybe there is magic hair like that :O. Tell me if you find some.

PS: Wait longer than weeks to expect dreads. For some, months is what it takes. For many, a year. For some, 2 years. I think 3 years is a safe bet for ANY hair (even magic).
