I'm really surprised he did it to be honest, he has had his dreads for maybe 7 years now. I guess he just read something on the internet and thought it was a good idea... but surely when he goes to wash his hair, and water in the actual dread itself won't be able to drain out, leading to mold issues :S.

My friend has been using wax on the tips, setting fire to them, then blowing it out... I think he must be mad to be honest, that would be worse than crotcheted for water retention.

For me they are spiritual thing primarily, fashion secondary, i'm a pagan and have both Celtic, and Nordic roots. They are a reflection of that ancestoral past, the fact that they look good is just a plus. Dreadlocks are a universal human trait, like being born, ageing, and all other natural processes. Hair dreads end of, humans apply the spiritual aspects to them.

Mine are really quite skinny, although i'm just letting them congo to thicken them up. I think the mixed look is best, lots of different sizes.
