White stuff in my locks... HELP!
Introduce Yourself
My hair is dowsn'y knot up very fast, so the majority of my hair is loose sections with maybe 6 more formed locks. So it's just natural shedding that isn't attached to anything or any knots.

White stuff in my locks... HELP!
Introduce Yourself
I take my hair into a ponytail and then gently pull out the loose ones in one go. About a handful every other day. It's either that or they end up all over my back and chair at work...egh.

Kind of unrelated, but not entirely: what do you all do with shedding? Pull them all the way out or leave them?

Gettin' down with the funk
Dread Accessories
There are a few tutorials on YouTube of how to make wool extensions that you just tie in. You can get a ton of fun colors that way!

Keeping your dreads back while at work?
Dread Maintenance
I have to wear mine tied back for work. It may slow down the process but my hair is still knotting up higher than the hair tie. The only thing is after awhile it hurts my scalp if the ponytail is too tight...so I've been doing more loose braids and low ponytails.

Be Kind
General Talk
I agree with Taye. No one ever likes to hear that they're wrong about anything. A welcome and a mention of the dreaducation page is plenty for newcomers that haven't posted anything yet other than their profile. Not a "Welcome...but you did it wrong." Even if it's sincerely to help them, it does not come off that way. Sometimes I avoid commenting on posts from newer people that have crocheted or waxed because I know they're going to get blasted and I don't want to overwhelm them further. They'll figure it out soon enough and will ask questions when they're ready to hear the answers. Thanks for the post Baba!

Why knot? (pictures at bottom)
Dread Maintenance
I'm at just about nine months as well and my hair looks very similar to yours, so I think we're on the right track. I did try to twist and rip the front about 3 months in, but all of those fell out. Now I just leave it be.
