Dread splitting help

Introduce Yourself

About two months in I combed out a large dread on the side of my head and redid twist and rip on them. I made 3 out of the 1. They still matured at the same rate as the rest of my hair. Now at 13 months, I split one last week on the other side by using only one side of scissors/ripping. Like Taye, mine didn't come out perfect either. There isn't as much control. I agree with her to comb out & resection the too big areas that way. In the scheme of things, it won't set you back a ton. :) you should post pics of whichever you decide to do!

Shedding so much hair!

General Questions

My hair is about half dreaded right now. It sheds a ton too, especially after wash days. It's really noticeable now since it's grown so long! I don't worry about em but if I'm going to work I pull the extra loose ones out that are hanging way down--from the ends, I don't run my hands through. It probably slows down dreading, but it bugs me too much to leave hair all over my back and chair at work. :P

Dread Maintenance

Could you be having an allergic reaction to anything new? Oils, shampoo, the hair dye, etc?

Hair gone astray!

Help! Save My Dreads

I can't see your pic on my phone, but all my dreads that are formed have started with a bump at the top by the root. Now when I see a new one I get excited because it means a new dread is starting. It's a good thing. :)

Sailing/ocean/shampoo question

General Questions

Thanks everyone! What type of shampoo was going to be my follow up question. I agree, I don't want to use anything that will runoff and be harmful to the ocean. I'm not sure if I can take BS/ACV in my carry on or not...I could just see some idiot confiscating it. haha

Sailing/ocean/shampoo question

General Questions

Hi all!I will be living on a sailboat for a week. Here in Iowa I've been using a trader joes tea tree shampoo/ACV since it works best with my water. Should I bring this along, or use something else? We have access to fresh water for showering, but it'd be water stored in the boat. Also, should I rinse my dreads after swimming in the ocean, or let them dry without rinsing the sea water out? Thanks!

I haven't had short hair in a while, but always thought tiny pigtails were cute. :)
