white oily buildup

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

That's also what it sounded to me, I had something similar to this on my previous set of dreads but i think it was dead skin or something of the like, Fair warning dilute dr bronners heavily, I always took the warning like mehhh i'll just put it in my hair and the water will dilute it, No don't do this it dried the hell out of my head and it was not good...

drying my hair after washing (freeform, just started)

Dread Maintenance

I usually shake like a wet dog not so rough just enough to shake the water off, If mature dreads give it a pat with a towel don't rub or anything like that then i usually just sit with a fan on and they'll dry.

What would happen if I combed my hair?

Dread Maintenance

Just to put my two cents out there (Again) I've brushed my hair out twice and this time shaved it off for an experience, So far no regrets i will regrow my freeforms

Alright thanks for the help, So if i did use this on my hair it wouldn't leave residue or ruin my dreads? That's the main question

Dread Products

I heard from a buddy of mine that swears by (African Pride olive growth formula) and i'm wondering from you guys if it'd be cool to put it in my hair, These are the ingredients (Glycine Soja Oil/Soybean Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olive Oil, Tritcum Vulgare Germ Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil/Jojoba Oil, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil/Grape Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil/Avocado Oil, Linum Usitassimum Seed Oil, Equisetum Hiemale Extract/Horsetail Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Triticum Vulgare Protein/Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Glycine Soja Protein/Hydrolyzed Soybean Protein, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Cl47000/Yellow 11, Cl61565/Green 6, TBHQ, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, C12-C15 Alkyla Benzoate, Fragrance/Parfum, Benzyl Benzoate, D-Limonene, Lilial, Linalool).

And if it's cool to put in my hair how long are you supposed to leave oil in your hair? Will it go bad?

If it's not great for your hair can you mention something i can pickup locally without having to mix together a bunch of stuff that'll help with hair growth and not make my hair so dry

Professional or do yourself?

If you want "Instant" dreads you can pretty much do it yourself with twist and rip, I don't recommend backcombing it's pretty damaging and $100 per hour sounds really expensive, You can also go the freeform route which is just not brushing and washing your hair with residue free shampoo

Calling it quits

General Talk

About a month ago i brushed my free-forms too, They weren't too mature but i just felt the strong urge to do it, 1 day after i started free-forming again, I don't really regret doing it to be honest it was just an odd urge. Just putting my experience into this for your consideration

Brushed ends

General Questions

I don't think people purposefully do that, It's just a lot harder for straight hair to dread unless it's forcefully blunted, But it could be some kind of fashion trend i'm unaware of?
