Mature dread length

General Questions

I have been seeing a lot of pictures exposing hair shrinkage... I am just wondering [uh worried haha] about how long my hair might be when it starts to *really* dread. Right now it's about even with the middle of my shoulder blades. Should I be getting some pretty short ones? :/

"Your dreads just don't look like other people's."

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I have been told that, too. And I ended up being convinced to put wax in my hair. BUT once I bought the wax and looked at it with the lid off, I decided I'd rather not put that sh*t in muh hair. :/

Everyone else is right, "dreads are like fingerprints." They are not supposed to look like anyone else's. Nobody looks like a human before they are born, and your hair will not look like what most people think dreadlocks look like for quite a while. I, too, am glad you are not letting words get to you. Only silly people let stuff like that bother them. Myself included. :P

UH man!! Not another 'HELP ME!!' thread :P

Dreading Methods

How did you start your dreads? I think that has something to do with it, but I could be wrong. Also, I think ACV could definitely be a factor. It makes my hair very silky like I just poured a whole bottle of mainstream conditioner on it. haha. If you don't wash your hair regularly enough and it gets oily [well not just making assuming insults or anything, mine does], especially if you haven't given it a chance to regulate its own oils, then oily hair could be keeping it from dreading up. Eh, these are just my theories... I only stopped brushing a month ago. haha.

Continuing on once removing the wax.

Help! Save My Dreads

I have no idea about the method, but use distilled white vinegar, not acv if it's for wax. And you don't want to mix the vinegar and the bs, some people do, but you probably shouldn't. Make sure your hair is rinsed of the bs solution before adding the vinegar solution. It looks like this link you posted is for regular washing, not anything to do with wax. If reg washing is what you're looking for, I think the solutions are a bit strong. We have hard water... but I use 1 tablespoon of baking soda per cup of warm water, and 1 tablespoon of acv per cup of water. They stay separate of course, and I usually need 2 of each. I wash warm and rinse cold.

Beginner Dreadheads & Their Baby Dreads

General Talk

hey hey hey I was one of those people. sorta. haha. Sometimes it drives me crazy that I don't brush my hair, especially when it's looking flat and lacking body, unlike when I washed it squeaky clean and air-dried and brushed it. I don't have any pics yet bc I can't find a USB cord for my old ass camera :P But I am starting to see some separation, and I'm very excited about it. A lot of people won't say so but I think they can't believe that I untangled my backcombed dreads and didn't put wax in it after all to "hold them together" and "make them look nice and neat." I am one of the few people who actually knows what's going on with my hair when I/they see it, but I am enjoying the evolutionary process. :D

help with scalp gunk...please!

Help! Save My Dreads

I noticed something like that in a couple of my backcombed dreads while I was untangling them. It was sticky, oily, ucky. I have a very strong feeling it was sebum. I have a tendency to play with [massage] my scalp when I get bored, and I think that triggers a compensation production. I am still trying to break my habit, and so I use an anti-residue shampoo like 2x a week. [Suave for men bc I couldn't find any at the store for women, but then I rinse with ACV/water/EOs and so I don't smell like a boy haha] I am willing to bet it could be residue issue caused by hard water, or sebum. :) Good luck with it though.

paganism in a christian society

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

belleraphon, Desirae is right, Roman Catholics are Christians. And actually the Christians who accused, burned, and tortured witches were also protestant [meaning Christians who left the Catholic church and started their own sects: Methodist, Baptist, Quaker, Amish, whatever], it wasn't just the Catholics. Back then there was a very, very bad case of what JD was talking about: religion being government and meant to rule the masses.
