Neglect Dread Question

I'm currently around like month 3 in letting my hair grow out. So since I don't comb it anymore, I'm not quite sure how long it actually is now. Encouraging enough, I'm starting to feel 2 or 3 long twisties separating from the rest of the fro. The thing is, when I sleep I turn a lot. So the back of my head and the sides are all mushed down, while the top is sticking out because I guess I never lay on the top.. That'd be pretty weird. Anyways it's not like I go to school or work right now,…

motivation to start my dread journey

So, long story short, i've been wanting to dread my whole head for about a year and half. I've had 1-3 dreads in my hair for the most part during that time period (twist and rip). i've been planning on getting a friend to twist and rip all of my hair, but now i am leaning way more towards the natural method. I do have a more relaxed job and will be going to college next year so the timing seems pretty decent. i have fairly thick hair but its pretty straight with a little bit of wave. it…

my dread journey

i never had the best of starts with my dreadlock journey.

my hair was very short when i decided that dreads were right for me.

i looked into many methods of how to start my dreading process, but they all had scare stories, and i didn't know anyone who i could turn to for advice.

i finally decided to go to a salon - which were incredibly expensive!!

whilst flicking through the phonebook for the telephone number of the 1 only place inmy region that does it, i phoned…

I did not snap at a coworker, friend, or any animate object..i snapped my cigarette, then kept sayin im done im done, gave my almost full pack away and left!!!! that happened about four and a half hours ago!

I'm going to try these homeopathic chew pill things that SE recommended worked for him real wells, and i have tried them, they kill the…

My crappy sections...

So as most of you know, I started my dreads as a partial head. I still had A LOT of loose hair in the beginning. Because of the way I started them as a partial, sectioning perfectly never crossed my mind. I literally just grabbed hair and twist and ripped it. Never thought twice about it until now that my whole head has been finished for about 2 weeks now. My sections are all woven together and they all want to congo. I spend a lot of time trying to separate them, and when I don't separate…

wanting to know

well a few months ago my girlfriend finally had the courge to let her hair be natural. so she shaved off all her hare to get rid of the chemical filled hair. and i was wondering if there was a way to combine her old hair into mine cause, to make her fell better about her decion i told her that i would do that so she could be with me as long as i had my dreads. now i feel that i could try doing it now that my dreads are more mature. but i was dubting it would work because it was over…

Converted Crochet-er, but is it too late?

hi all, new to hear and feel the love already

hears my story so fa. i giv into quick "results" nd crocheted my hair for th first 2 months or so. nd they never truly lockd up, and needed to be rammed with the darn needle every few days. this gave temporary tightness nd permanent broken hairs.

i came to me senses and got rid of the damaging hook, and over the last 5-6 months I've been letting them grow and change however dey wish.

me dreads have thickend, thinned,…

My progress at 2 months

http://youtu.be/85Es5hOr_70

So two maintenance sessions at two months. There looking nice to me. What do you guys think?

Also My head gets really itchy, Ive read most of the posts for itchiness and dandruff. I use backing soda/ ACV. Ive used tea tree, lavender, and rosemary essential oils and they dont help that much. I also do a cold rinse at the end of my showers. Thanks for any feedback Peace and Love to you guys.

Natural Dreadlock Problems!!!

So i've been dreading for about two or three months now...my hair is about 6 inches, and I have not gotten any results at all! Like literally nothing. Maybe 5 or 6 dreads the size of a needle...But like damn, It's really really discouraging. I was talking to some people on youtube, and they were completely negative towards me. Saying that only black peoples hair will naturally dread and i need to quit trying. I could get dreads with palm rolling or twist & rip...but I don't want that!…

from twist rip to natural. help...

I began my dreads as twist and rip and backcombing but they keep coming apart or meshing together. i don't like putting rubber bands in because I've noticed its been the cause of some meshing... i want to do them natural and some of them are too tight to undo and start over... any advice?

dreads starting to congo = me sad

I've done a pretty good job at separating my dreads, but three on the side of my head are extremely knotted together. the one in the middle of the three used to be two, but those two congoed which was fine because they were pretty thin, but now they are dragging in their neighbors! I've been trying to separate them for a while, but nothing works. They all have a bead around them but that doesn't help at all. I don't want to cut my hair so I'm tempted to just let them congo...I would like…

Here is a handy tool for scalp ITCHES/ITCHING/ITCHY/ITCH

I swear by these! I am posting a link to show you, but you can generally find these even in drug stores. They help itch, massage and stimulate your scalp without messing up your dreads as long as you don't go crazy with it. ; ) Make sure the ends of the wires are smooth with no barbs as to not catch on your dreads. I checked them out in the store to make sure. They have heavy duty ones, which I don't recommend because the wires are thicker. The cheap small ones with thin wires are the best!…
