Ur dreads

Introduce Yourself

Pretty much natural with a little bit of twist and rip here and there. I use the bs wash and vinegar rise. It works wonders and feels so good! I really like the wild and crazy look with dreads of all shapes and sizes and a little bit of loose hair. This is my second set, my first set was the dreadheadhq dedicated follower style and once I found this site and all the awesome natural dread pics, I knew what I wanted my dreads to look like.

Name calling

Introduce Yourself

I've been called dirty hippie, marley, rasta man, medusa, nice dreads, and Jim has a tarantula on his head!

It's all in good fun so I don't take offense.

People touching your dreadlocks

General Questions

It pisses me off to no end when people do that. Even when my own mom comes to visit me at college she'll just grab my hair without permission and it infuriates me. I don't mind it when asked first though.

So I know most people on here are opposed to dreadheadhq and knotty boy, but what do you think about their shampoos?

Dread Products

Dreadheadhq shampoo tends to dry out my scalp a little bit but it gets all the residues out of my hair. I still prefer baking soda and vinegar mixed with my own oils though.

METH HELP!!!!!! i need you guys

Introduce Yourself

I know a few people who have gotten into hard drugs really bad. A friend of mine went who graduated a year before me moved away and I didn't hear from him for 2 years. I saw him walking down the street coming home from work one day and he told me what had happened to him. He moved away and got an apartment with a couple guys. He explained how he snorted coke every day for a couple months, snorted heroin for a couple months after that, got back into coke for a while. And the whole time he was smoking weed multiple times a day, getting blackout drunk at least once a week, and tripping acid at least once a month. He spent over a thousand dollars on drugs in a couple weeks at one point. when i talked to him, he had been clean for a month. at that point all he wanted was a decent job, a place to live, and a girl. He said he thought being fucked up all the time would be an awesome life to live, but he had to find out for himself that it wasn't as glorious as he thought. Maybe your friend just needs to find out for himself too.

encourage certain dreads to go together

Dread Maintenance

if they are long enough, loosely tie them together with some string and leave it on for a month or two. don't take it off when you wash them either.

If this is it, I am tempted to comb out!!!

Dread Maintenance

a spray with some tea tree and vitamin e oil helped me out on my last set. i let the spray sit for about 15-20 min. before a wash.

Baking soda/vinegar help.

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

It's probably a combination of both soap residue and dandruff. I only let the baking soda soak for ten minuets, and I didn't feel much of dissolving feeling( if that makes any sense). Then I did the vinegar rinse and let that sit for about two minuets.

Baking soda/vinegar help.

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Ok, so I've been using dreadhead soap for the past year and a half and I had no problems with it until I got to college. The water at my college is softer than the water at home and when I wash my hair it leaves a white substance on my scalp. I just tried the baking soda/ vinegar wash today and that substance is still there. I used the same proportions that S.E. recommended, but in a 1.5 liter bottle( instead of 1 gallon jug). should I up the amount of baking soda and vinegar I use? or get some type of oils?
