I only used it the once, so I was able to get it out with warm/hot water over a good few washes. Since then, I've combed out five or so dreads and have never seen any wax in them, so I know it's out. If you've been using wax for a while, I'd probably use the Wax-B-Gone, personally, because a lot of our members have had success with it as soon as it's gone, you should see good progress again.

Welcome hope you can get the wax out rather than start over. I started my dreads by backcombing and using wax, but left them alone since then and they've come along great. For many people, it is just a case of removing the wax, and most or all of their issues are gone. Hope it's the same for you!
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. Soaring Eagle would know. Or, better yet, you could contact Vicki. She's the one who makes all of those products, and is a member here
Since they are fatter, and older, I'd venture to say you might need 2. But I couldn't say for sure. 1 might be enough.
If you didn't do what I did, and tie knots in your locks years ago, you can actually brush them out and start over with the same, or similar length hair you have now.
It's a pain in the butt, but possible.
Dreadlockshampoo.com sells a great wax remover. They also sell the absolute best shampoos for locks. But if you can't afford it, get yourself a very good, tough-on-grease, dish detergent. Here's what to do with it:
1) Fill the biggest bowl or pot you own with the hottest water you can stand to keep your hands in long term.
2) Squirt in a generous amount of the soap.
3) dunk each lock in, 1 at a time. Massage the soapy water into your locks for about 1 minute each.
3a.) change your water periodically. It's going to get gross really fast from the wax and dirt
4) Wash your hair like you normally would
You'll need to do this 2-3 times a week for about 1 month, if you only used wax once. if you used it more, do it for 2 months. I know, I know. It seems excessive. But wax is a hydrocarbon. That means it's waterproof. Normal soaps aren't designed to break down waxes and greases. That's why you need a detergent.
Since your locks are 1 year old, you shouldn't need to brush them out at all. Some knotting as taken place over the years. they will loosen up, quite a bit, though. Don't freak out about this. It's normal. The wax has only been giving the impression that they are as mature as they look.

Cut them? Why would you cut them?

Welcome poor sod. lol.
All is not lost. You can heal your locks from the damages that the kit did. Or have your already completely started over clean.
If you didn't, we can absolutely help you get the wax out. Even after a year, wax is still in there. Even after 10 years wax is still there.
