instead of that just simply use your finger to tuck em under the loose roots.. thats the only place to safely tuck then no matter what you use.
but really those loose hairs are a dread farm
you'll always have loose hairs and when they reach that length .. new dreads sprout the loose hairs are the seeds the soil the fertilizer just add water sunshine and air and wait to see what sprouts

dreads change you very quickly as you will find.. how you feel about hair today will be very different from how you will feel about hair in 6 months orr a year

dreads ofcourse are looked down on by some so threres that..not caring what others think being able to be 'ugly" in some peoples eyes ..thats part of it letting go of caring what thers think.. but the biggest part is letting go of the neeed to control their hair!
we have had several members battling eating disorders who were fine when they had dreads, when they cut them fell hard back into the disorder, and when dreading again had the strength to beat it.

i wouldnt split a dread with a 2 inch section i'd comb it out and start it over.. why.. think about how every hair criss crosse4s the dread chaotically to split a dread you break every single hair hundreds or thousands of times! not 1 hair is left unbroken. additionaly almost alwaysit splits unevenly with 1 having a thick root thin tip the other thin root thick tip. its way lesss harmful to start that dread over

as for extensions 85% are chopped off in 3 weeks to 3 monts you feel no connection to them they feel like dead weight
theres also an evil side to the industry
in some countries people with natural dreads are being mugged..knocked out with bricks waking up with fractured skulls (if they survive) and shaved heads
the natural dreads they grew for 10 years being sold on the black market as dread extensions
mine was only 4 inches to start..in a year past my shouldrs 5 mid back and now 27 10 feet long

dreads..after they shrink grow very quickly since you don't trim off 1/2 the gowth every couple months
you'll be amazed how fast and long they grow..so whats the point in adding someone elses hair when your own will grow and grow
