Valerie June talks anout her locks, maintenence and spirituality.

General Talk

Interview of Valerie Johnson i found, she has a beautiful voice, really a loveys soul and her locks are awesome. But in this interview she explains how natural locks are the way mto go, how to take care of them (her method of cleaning is interesting) and how they are spiritual. I loled because the interviewer was just nodding her head and agreeing but you can tell is very judgemental and has no idea what Valeria is talking about, nonetheless GREAT video and good to see someone that may be of a greater influence to some people speaking the truth on natural locks.

EVERYONE! i want to know...

General Questions

I decided to dread to represent our connection to the earth, and represent our one collective consciousness in the most natural physical form, so i chose dreads. and i feel that they are helping me to journey into womanhood and become the woman i am supposed to be, based on past spiritual experiences, so i truly believe dreadlocks are helping to keep me on my path. Along the way so far ( 7 months in) ive learned they truly are energyantennasand will store and put out what you will them to, they really do reconnect you with nature, physically, mentally and spiritually. They have also help me to realize i am beautiful and have made one of the most confident people i know. They are a part of me.

@Rainbow Fortune- "They are one of many things to show how nature can create something beautiful and unique out of complete chaos." LOVE that.

The Difference Between New Dread Growth and Loose Hair ??

Dread Maintenance

I looked around the site and didnt really find any topics on this so here goes... in between some of my dreads i have pretty large chunks of loose hair, and not just baby short loose hair or frizzies..hair that sectioned like 1/2 by 1/2 inch and 1 by 1 inch...and its much longer than my dreads. Now i seperate my dreads..but ive never had to pull LOTS of hair outta one due to congoing or whatever..so i dont really know if this is loose hair or if its because my actual hair has actually gotten very long and i now have new dreads thaat are forming? if they are new dreads, i would like to but a bead on them so they arent being sucked into other dreads, or if it is just loose hair id like to wrap it around the closest dread and put a bead on it because its getting hard to keep the inbeetween hair from growing all my dreads together...

Ive explained this the best way i can.lol

so how do you tell the difference? or does anyone know by my description if it is loose hair or ne dreadies :)

thankyou for your help so far everyone. my journey has been wonderful and i am so excited to live the rest of my days furthering my spiritual/dreaddy journey.

dreads really have a way of showing you what love is.

B's Natural Acne Mask

General Talk

I'vebeenexperimenting for a while now with natural ingredients facial masks so help get flawless skin, and have decided to make my own, ive used it for two months now and it really tightens my pores, get rid of blotchiness and redness, and really smooths out your face, and the best part is, its natural! So Ive decided to share my recipe with you :) Remember this may not work as fantastically as it does for me for EVERYONE though. You can add or remove any steps or ingredients that you wish just look up natural acne masks online and you should find a list of herbs and other natural ingredients that will do different types of wonderous things to your skin. For example I've added honey before, hemp oil, lavender, peppermint oil, all types of stuff. but i always end with a cucumber after the mask, anywho this is entirely longer than i wanted to be, here ya go >>>

INGREDIENTS (WHAT YOU WILL NEED)

2 egg whites

1 package of regular oatmeal- optional (adds gentle smoothing)

1 tablespoon of sea salt

1/2 cup of water

few slices of cucumber

medium sized bowl

2 washcloths

1.put egg whites, oatmeal, sea salt, 1/2 cup of water in a bowl and mix very well.

2.Gently smooth onto face and/or shoulders, let sit 30 minutes or until dry.

3. rinse off using warm washcloth.

4.afterwards rub cucumber slices onto face and/or shoulders. Rinse off with cold washcloth.

ENJOY NATURAL BEAUTIFUL SKIN!

"Hey, are you TRYING to DO dreads?"

General Questions

what does this mean? lol i get so many people that come into my work (i work at jcpenney) and ask me "are you trying to do dreads?"

I mean dont get me wrong i get lots of weird looks or rude comments (mostly from black people or snooty rich people) and lots and lots of really great comments and words ofencouragementi even have little old ladies that tell me how "darling" they look on me x) which makes ya feel all warm inside....but the most troubling thing to me is when someone asks are you trying to do dreads.

i understand my babiesaren'tfully mature yet, but i think by looking at them you coulddefinitelysay they are dreadlocks. and you dont have to TRY to have dreadlocks, you literally do nothing, and i know i cant expect everyone to know that, but its just so silly to me i guess, that someone is asking if im trying to do something that has already happened.

but nonetheless i answer them with a yes, and they say "cool, they WILL look good on you" againinsinuating that i havent gotten them yet.lol
anyways, rant over.lol

ALSO i have a question....some of my dreads are rather flat, will they round out once they mature?

Ive been meaning to put up pictures or make a video for my three month mark, but ive been busy with work, i should be at work now but ive been stuck at home for three days with a 103 fever :( everything hurts.lol but i should be well soon, and all this sleeping is making my dreads go craaaazy, they are simply beautiful.

peace.
