correction: i said barely at my shoulders, its actually a few inches below my shoulders at its longest points. but the underneath dreaded really fast and shrunk up to almost my shoulders.
i did loose that much length, but thats only initially. and because my hair is naturally curly and kinked up into these cool bumps and loops and wiggles. i love them you may not loose that much. and if you do...so what!? not everyone does.
alice im almost 6 months in now and believe me there have been times where ive second guessed this whole process. times when my head has been a complete and total mess. times when i was self conscious about what others might think about me. my hair was to the middle of my back when i started, now its barely at my shoulders. that was the hardest adjustment i think. im to the point now where they are really locking up and starting to look better. i wore them down for the first time going out of the house today. and i was proud it was all worth it. letting my hair dread has been the best thing ive ever done. not for how they look, for my own self image issues. i say go for it and you will be beautiful inside and out blessings.
i LOVE that book. there is a woman with really long spiral dreads in it that are just beautiful. and another of a blonde with wild crazy locs thats just about the most gorgeous thing ive ever seen. unfortunately they arent pictured in the link above. i agree with contacting the author. or maybe the photographer is listed. gotta give photo props ya know good luck brother.
theres no way you went from black to blonde and didnt use bleach hon. you had to lift the color somehow. and the only way to do that is with bleach. maybe you didnt know the product you used had bleach?
im with SE on this one. see if it passes. pray that it passes. bleach is only going to severely damage your hair. but if you still are stuck on it...please dont get a box from walmart. go to sally. its not that expensive. and do ONE dread first to make sure its even going to turn out like you want it. mine always turned an ugly orange color and i had to reapply bleach again, which severely damaged my hair. ( pre-dreads of course) to this day there is a huge difference in the feel of the strands i had bleached vs my natural hair color. even if your hair doesnt fall out, it may very well break off.
if youre still set on doing it, good luck to you. this is just my experience with bleach.
i have no idea. im not that computer savvy. was just letting you know what i had seen. maybe a coincidence that i saw the posts 5 min apart?
i just read on fb that mozilla firefox may have crashed.
i just did some coconut oil on mine yesterday. my tips were getting very brittle. i only used a very small amount on each one and left it in after my wash. so far so good. it seems to have soaked in and my tips feel better. good tip about the bottle. i usually start out with most of mine pinned on top of my head. i wash the bottom few, then let down a few more and do them. in sections if you will.
every time i have ever tried that button i get some kind of weird encrypted code all over my computer screen!
