Surfing with 2 week old dreads

Introduce Yourself

That's good! Salt water helps them lock upimmensely, and they're supposed to come undone. Don't touch them and they'll be fine!

[CallForHelp!] How do you go about dreading MY hair?

Dreading Methods

All hair dreads if you just don't comb it!

cool ok thanks for the advice everyone, but you see i could leave my hair forever and i dont think it would ever dreadlock naturally thats just what my hair is like, it needs some influence like salt water. and do i just put the band at the bottom of the dread (scalp) or shall i put another like half way or anything?

beads. loops. bumps. applications of the like.

Dread Accessories

I usually rotate where I put my beads and stuff, and I don't usually put them over loops. I think it would probably fix itself eventually if it was just compressed down only for a few weeks/months. I doubt any party of a normal dread could never knot, you know?

the zig zags and stuff are normal, its just a sign that that areas starting to lock up, they always fix themselves if you give it time. im delighted when i find a new loop or zig zag cause i know its making progress. they dont usually go away in a month, usually 3 months or so on my head.

my main concern has been if i compress the loop against the surface of the dread instead of letting it go and suck inside the dread if im preventing that area in the dread from forming a knot and dreading solidly, and causing a sort of straight section in the core of the dread that will never knot, even if its not visible that way on the outside

Apparantly johnny clean now sells hair growth vitamins

Dread Products

I don't think hair could out grow the locking process, if that's what you are getting at.But pregnancy does mess with hormones and stuff, so increased hair growth in pregnant women does not mean that the supplements will work on everyone. I think it would be a waste of time and money to try and "speed up" hair growth. Like dreads, patience is the key.I know a change in diet most definitely can affect hair growth, so I'd try that before taking any of Johnny's supplements. They probably work as well as the wax :P

Hello all my Naughty Knotty Friends

Introduce Yourself

I'm pretty sure palm rolling will just slow you down and not really help...Somewhere on this site is a thread about rubbing a bath towel on your head (dry hair and a dry towel) and it really cleans up the fuzz. You'll just be fighting an endless battle against what dreads have to do to lock up properly. Best to just get it over with lol and not try to do anything. But it's your hair, and your choice. good luck. they look good!

She's gorgeous, you're gorgeous...none of us know her though, so I'm not sure it's really fair to judge her personality or anything lol. Skin deep beauty is probably as far as you'll get while watching youtube videos.

her dreads look great, but I think they're getting all loopy now from the rubber bands, and the beads really help a lot.

Piercings are cool, too.

What can a freshman say?

Introduce Yourself

nah my 10, 11 and 12 grade years were pretty awesome.I never went with the flow much either, but in all my schools we didn't really talk about "under clssmen" and "upperclassmen". We never really knew who was in what grade lol. But like everyone else said, it doesn't matter when you graduate whether or not you were popular. All my friends in HS told me to cut/comb my hair, and I told them I didn't want to. Lol simple as that. When people ask you dumb questions, you could just shrug it off or ignore them, or just answer like "Well, I like it." or something.but the take time answer (IMHO) always gets people to blurt out more ignorant stuff at me. Like "OMG no. My friend just "got" dreads yesterday and they look way better than yours." but I think you'll be fine :) Just ignore everyone who is mean to you lol

Wash your hair whenever you want and don't worry.
