Tea tree oil/water spray ratios

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Would you give me a suggestion for a soap that 1) does not dry my hair out, and 2) does not leave residue that does not come out? This is why for the last several washings I have only used water. I was not happy with how my hair felt, smelled, and dreaded when I was using soaps, BS/ACV, shampoos, etc. What do you suggest to me then?

Also, my hair has always been...even when not dreaded...very very dry. What do you suggest for that?

I just looked at your page and you are using water only to cleanse...so I assume your scalp is itching...probably alot. Here is a sure, fire way to stop the itching....wash your hair ! And use some shampoo! I don't know where everyone keeps getting these crazy ideas to only use water! It is not healthy or sanitary and it does not help your hair dread. Dirty hair will take way longer to progress...you need to wash your hair. All damage and problems with hair and scalp is cumulative, so the longer to do not wash and cleanse away the dust and polution...not to mention the natural oils from your head...the more problems you will have. Do you realize that every pollutant that is in the air is also in your dreads and you are bringing them into your home and bed every night? Please limit the Tee Tree and increase your use of soap.

Tea tree oil/water spray ratios

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Bugs. I have a fear of bugs. I was unaware that it is drying. What oils would you suggest for keeping them from drying out? My dreads have always seemed to get really dry...that is why I began to use the oils. I use a mix of Tea tree, patchouli, and sweet orange. But I read from Soaring Eagle that tea tree keeps the bugs away.

Why do you feel the need to spray your hair with Tea Tree so much? How often are you washing? Tea Tree is very drying and can cause irritation. If you are using it in place of washing that is no good. Also, if you are wetting your hair daily...especially at night you could end up with mold. The use of some essential oils is considered medicinal, while others only smell nice. What is your reasons for so much Tea Tree?

Tea tree oil/water spray ratios

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I use a tea tree oil and water spray daily before leaving the house and sometimes at night. I still haven't figured out what is a good ratio of oil to water. My bottle is 4 oz. With a 4 oz. bottle, what ratio do you suggest?

Fuzzy looks so unprofessional! How do I fix this?

Dread Maintenance

Where might one find the sea salt sprays and which are best (if that is a valid question)? Do I make a solution myself?

Thanks.

leave em alone di sea salt sprays stop twisting they will either integrateor become new baby dreads but they have to get long enough 1st to do that if u stop twisting they will get long enough to not stick up they will lay in among the dreads giving a softer look and blend in then as they reach the right length they dread..just let em if u need to tame it a lil during the awkward stage of rcoveruing from twisting use a lil aloe vera (pure no other ingredients) like a hair gell to smooth em back and down but dont over use once they are longer stop so they can just dread up

Fuzzy looks so unprofessional! How do I fix this?

Dread Maintenance

So, I'm a teacher at a private Christian school...and some there think dreadlocks look unprofessional. I have been pulling them back or to the side with a flower to dress them up, but they get so fuzzy at the roots, and a bunch of hairs start sticking up all over the place! I'm assuming this is normal, but in my attempt to combat it, I began twisting the little hairs in, only to find that I am damaging my dreads even more, and in turn causing more little hairs to pop out!

Any suggestions? I know that dreads are supposed to be no/low maintenance, for this is why I desired them. But I always end up acting on my fears of them never binding on their own, and so I end up twisting. "/ Bad, I know. Suggestions?

Also, all those little hairs just stick out and I want them to integrate, and again, my fear tells me that they will just grow long and never ever hook up with a dread. Encouragement???

Thanks.

Dread bangs - Difficulty locking...

Dread Maintenance

My dreads that used to be my bangs are getting very long but have such difficulty locking. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this? The rest of my head locks great...but the two or three right in front that would be like "bangs" just don't lock well and the length between the scalp and where they actually lock is a few inches. The rest of my locks don't have this problem. Any thoughts?

Trichotillomania and Locks. 1 month old - Crochet method start.

Introduce Yourself

I am in love with the fact that you were so honest and vulnerable in your post. I felt empathetic as I read through the misery of your fight with trichotillomania, but I also was encouraged by the great joy that you now feel, free-ish from the struggle and refreshed by your journey with your dreads. I felt that the length was necessary in order to fully express the journey.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
