In search for an american dream...

Introduce Yourself

Well, of course we welcome tourists, and it's true that many lands were stolen from natives and it's also true that many lands are impoverished.I've done a lot of research and reading on the topics of clandestine operations in the american government and the destruction that our govt wreaks in many, many other countries, in fact causing much of the poverty that we hear about especially in places like africa and latin america. Its just not what it seems, our country that isand I wouldn't want any one from a different country coming here with a false notion ofwhat we actually are.because, we do not adhere to the ideals that many people claim we doand we are not very freeI agree that protesting is hard to get people to do, and also, I wish people would care and unify and most importantly organizebut, to think we aren't that bad, and the gov't is just run by stupid idiots...well thats truebut the gov't doesn't control the country, the very rich 1% of the world control our countryand you, through media, chemically food, and an insane idea that we are the best countryand everyone else should be like us.we are one of the least happiest countries in the world, and a handful of wealthy people are profiting immensely off of both the war and these hard times at home.

Our country is not the only one riddled with job loss and pollution. This economy is effecting everyone, not just the US. Canada was also "stolen" from natives along with many other countries as well.

I don't really see our government being secretive...I think they're just stupid people running our country who have been running it for years. Sure, it needs some tweaking, but our system of government is the longest running constitution (if I remember correctly). They tell us what they do, but it's hard to change what we don't like because Americans don't like to unify :( sucks. I love protesting, but it's hard to get everyone off the couch/laptops/cell phones and whatnot and to care.

I think we should welcome tourists to boost our economy up. I don't understand why we wouldn't want people to come and spend money to help everyone out...

stop being so negative, guys! hahaha

hmm, no natural origin label but we do have 'USDA Organic' which means that the food has to be 90% organic, but even those foods have something called 'natural flavors' which means it is more or less artificially flavored and still has chemicals.to Brandon saying that america is a great country, well the people are good people, yes. and the land is worth appreciating (even though we stole it from the people who lived here before) it is just sad that we have so much hatred of the people from the government, and that everything is so secretive so that many people don't even know about what is going on.

In France law requires the government always to act in a way that people can see through.
Is that not the same in the US?
--Nope. They can do whatever they want, whenever they want for any reason they want regardless of what the people want or what is justified. They call it the patriot act. They operate under a guise of "transparency" but it's all just a ruse. America is loaded with propaganda, and here they call it "news". Based on historical instances of these exact same problems, it's headed in a very bad direction. What makes it worse is all the Homer Simpson Americans who just bend over and take it, and believe all the propaganda. The Homer Simpsons are complacent- they know it's BS they just don't care or they like the drama, it's become a soap opera.
How can beef jerky be bad for my body? Apparently it's just pieces of beef.
--Yep just dried out strips of beef. Some beef jerky here has a lot of preservatives and other things added to it because it is mass produced (like most things found in America) but if you make your own or buy it from someone locally or something it's probably just dried beef. Beef jerky is very popular out here in the west because a lot of the native reservations make it traditionally, in other words they simply strip and dry the beef. That kind (natural) is only bad for you in the way that meats are bad (cholesterol, etc).
I'm a vegetarian and have been since I was a kid, but I loved beef jerky before I stopped eating meat. I make soy jerky, it's just ground up and pressed soy protein that has been flavored with teryaki and dried in a dehydrator. Yummy. :)

I already came here and yes it was a really good experience and I met many people, but I don't like to be considered as a tourist, and my goal is to leave my town and build a new life behind the american flag.
I'm so perplexed (is that the right word?) when I hear many americans and frenchs talking about the american government since the 9/11. In France law requires the government always to act in a way that people can see through.

American food is known to be bad for health because of how fat it is and because of over eating. I was open- mouthed to see a queue in a fast food at 4:30 PM lol.

About dread wax, I don't like it or use it but I think if it's still on the market after several years, it would means that it satisfy at least a sufficient number of customers to make sellers prospers.

and beef jerky is bad and many other foods are bad because there are chemicals in them called high fructose corn syrup and aspartame and saturated fats which cause a reaction in the brain that is similar to that of when taking drugs, so it's almost like most americans are addicted to the bad food of america

You grown in the US and habitude makes us want to leave our birthplace, so you 'll easily see the negative sides of your country.
Ausralia seems to be a very great place that I'd love to visit, but to have traveled around the US I can tell you that there a thousand of beautiful places and amazing people, and I WANT TO EAT BEEF JERKY, BURGERS AND DONUTS ALL DAY LONG !!!!!!! ^^

the government in america has little to no transparency, meaning a lot of what it does is not seen by the public

Lol, well, not being a particular fan of beef jerky, I can still admit that it tastes good.Unfortunately, it is pretty bad for your body, along with much other american foods; they are filled with questionable chemicals, just like dread wax which is sold just to make money. The american people are a beautiful body of people just as any other population, but there is much misinformation and cluelessness amongst the public as to the activities of their government.I think if you come here, it will be a good experience and you will meet many people. But I encourage others to understand in a greater view the ideals of america and their negative effects on poor populations around the world, particularly latin america.Consuming and television and drinking are all favorites in this country, but they are all very bad for our planet and our bodies. But! You make your own decisions with your own knowledge and you will do well.Good luck to you, I hope you enjoy this country for what it has left of real beauty.

Introduce Yourself

I just found this site and it's really fantastic. I thought earlier today, 'hey, I should dread my hair so I don't have to spend so much time washing it and thinking about it, it can just be there in it's dreaded beauty.'...I thought 'That way, I can travel around and not worry about it at all, I can go anywhere with dreaded hair!'well anyway, I have thin white girl hair, kind of wavy..nothing special...I read dreaducation 101, now I'm wondering if this is really the route I should go, and I would love any tips or any conversation from you members because you all look so damn interestingLexi

What I have learned in nearly 2mos. of dreading...

Life Issues Facing Dreads

you seem to know a lot of professional people!I'm glad that dreadies are still accepted as professors, still haven't started yetbut planning to in the next 6 mnths...I work for my aunt at her fancy pants restaurantso i'm pretty worried that she'll be extremely disapproving of my dreadsespcially in the start up phaseI'm moving to the city hopefully though in the next 3-6 months so a new job will comebut even then, what if my pizza delivery store doesn't like my dreadsor my waitress job, or cashier or whatever stupid job I pick upthough you've told me before eagle man, that no job can fire someone because of their dreadsit still makes me worry, menial or not, the shit job is necessary for now

soaringeagle said:
one thing i have noticed
many oeople feel they must compromise theyre dreads for a menial job
but i see many people in high paying jobs who do not compromise and grow them naturally.

i see people crochreting and waxing and bending over backwardss to have inoffensive dreads just to be walmart greeters or gas station attendents,
but i know natural dreadies who jave dreads past theyre knees in all sorts of careers
the dean of a local university as well as 2 professors and the network admin
docrtors
homeopathyhs and choropractors
chefs and limo drivers
a rocket scientist
a ceo
a civil rights lawyer
a cop
several teachers

the people who feel they need to compromise themselves for some reason seem to end up in low paying jobs wghile those who respect themselves and stick to what they believe in get paid what they are worth

at the same time ive seen several freinds cut theyre dreads in the hopes of getting a certain job..and they never got that job..but when they refused to cut they got the job they wanted
