Do you ever foam your dreads?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I got the recipe here for the baking soda/vinegar washes and wanted to experiment a bit today. I read that you're supposed to wash the baking soda out before putting on the vinegar...but the two foam when put in contact with each other...and foam, not only is fun, but gets in different places than just water. So I diluted my baking soda, dumped it on head and let sit a while...then diluted my vinegar and dumped on head...Woosh! Foam! Let it sit a while longer and rinsed. Tingly goodness.Granted, I did use a pretty high concentration of both baking soda and vinegar.

Where to buy a wool tam, not online?

Dread Products

I got mine on Etsy and I love...although I don't know how much it's helping because I'm having shampooing issues right now. Panterra--I will definitely order two from you soon...my daughter really wants one in hot pink and purple now! lol

Where to buy a wool tam, not online?

Dread Products

All I have is cash right now, but I'm usually an online-only shopper. Where can I find a tam in the real world? I'm not familiar with the types of stores that would carry these...?

Baby.... BABY!?!?!?!Maybe or am I imagining it...

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I was horribly emotional, crying at the drop of a hat. I remember the night before I tool a preggo test saying "OMG what if I'm pregnant and that's why I'm acting this way?" It was the first time I'd thought of it! That was the only real symptom I had, all the others mimicked the beginning of my period.

Introduce Yourself

Thanks everyone...I'm almost one week in and I'm amazed at how some of them are seriously dreading already! In the back, the bottom layer are tightening up amazingly! The front is also staying really tight, although not dready tight (of course). Quite a bit in the back has loosed up until there's almost no knot in them, but they are staying in their own section and keeping together. It's happening a lot faster than I anticipated...and it amazes me to see them curling! I have pretty straight hair, but they are all getting quite a bit of wave in them. It's been a blast so far! Not too much separating so far...the roots aren't pretty, of course, but they aren't latching into each other much.I thought I'd be way more stressed about it by now. I'm more impatient to see them form now than before...just because it's turning out so different than I thought it would be at this point! I'll post pics in another week!

if they loosen up, like they are in the back right now...should I t &r them more? Would that help or just delay the inevitable loosening?

Introduce Yourself

I came here a few days ago, not realizing that this site was about natural dreads (versus crocheted or something like that). I told you all of my plans to go to a stylist to get dreads...and well, let's face it, I got slammed! I was a little pissy about all the negative comments I got...y'all were pretty abrupt! So I deleted my account and then thought about what you said. Yeah yeah yeah. lolI decided to do twist n rip dreads, no extensions...no products. I finished dreading on the 3rd of Sept...used the baking soda and vinegar wash today. This is when they were wet from the shower...looking okay? Any tips?
