simple maths,

if one side is bigger of the rectangle, than the "circle" will be oval shaped, doesnt take a rocket scientist.

take it to an extreme and image a dude with 10" x 1", that would be massively flat..

thats an extreme, so the case of this, the dread will be slightly oval,

the section shape does make the size of the lock change,

rectangle will mean your dreads will be slightly oval, nothing to worry about!

dread thickness depends on hair density, thats why when you use a 1" section size, some are larger than others,,

I used 3/4" and some are thicker than others, i seriously doubt the thickness will be the same size as the root square, a lil thinner

as dreads mature and smooth out, do they get thinner or thicker?

You should see Damian Marley when he was in his late teens, has very curly hair[remember he is 3/4 white and 1/4 black].Great to see him live, his locks are indeed to his mid shin,Oh and SE i love jah levi, his music is fantastic [i would personally never have my length that long, i need to be able to have them down and still walk]

dude your 3 months ini am at a similar stage as you, just over 3 months,yes loads of it just looks like straight hair in clumps, most of my ends are just straight hair [up to an inch].but i say to myself, 3 months is nothing, if its still the same after 6-8months, then maybe do something about it

i just use a hair dryer [not on max setting]then let air dry
