Still unraveled in front..but possibly too knotty in back! Help?

General Questions

I'm in the same exact boat as you right now. I'm 4 months in. The back of mine was all a rats nest like 2 weeks ago, but now they're actually looking like dreads. I have to seperate them a lot, they're really crazy right now. But the front just recently started getting knots at the end, which is how the ones in the back started. My hair is crazy and curly anyway though, yours would def take longer than mine. I guess I don't have any great advice, just seperate often and be patient :)

General Talk

Thanks for this discussion, i love peace and positivity! So hobbies, I have a lot. Lately I've been getting very into hoop dancing. Yesterday I actually made my own hula hoop for the first time :) Anyone can do it, and with some practice it's a very peaceful meditative thing.

Mine are just starting to look like that underneath too. I i did tNr about a month and a half ago, which I kinda of regret because it pretty much just hindered the process. It's so exciting to see the progress, yours look great so far!

So uhh... Hi?

Introduce Yourself

hey! I started my dreads a few days ago with twist and rip, they're coming along pretty well. it's pretty hard for me to do nothing. i have/had really really curly hair, i spent so much time trying to tame it, it's hard to let go of those habits. it's definately getting easier though. yours look great so far, and i like the bead :)

How did people react when you told them that you were going dready?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I've been telling just about everyone about my plan to dread. My girlfriend, my parents, my boss, my friends. I found their reactions pretty entertaining, in so many different ways. My girlfriend is very supportive, she thinks I'll look awesome with dreads and she's excited to be a part of the process (she's going to help with the twist and rip). My mom pretty much said ok, cool, do what you want. My dad called me a dirty hippie (joking of course, he likes to pick on me). My boss probably had my favorite reaction when I asked him whether it would be an issue in the workplace (I work a a pizza place). For a minute he looked at me really weirdly, then he said "I have never been asked that question before". Not that he thought it was gross, apparantly he just found it very odd (He said it was fine in case anyone was wondering). My friends have had different reactions, from "Awesome, totally go for it!" to "It just wouldn't suit you" and the worst of all "I just think dreads are gross, I read somewhere that a guy cut off his dreadlocks and there were bugs/maggots in them".So I was just wondering, how did people around you react when you first started talking about growing dreadlocks?ps- sorry if i didn't put this in the right category...

General Questions

Awesome! However, I fear that we are taking this thread pretty off topic, so i friended you and perhaps we can talk elsewhere :) Victoria said:
She JUST graduated from college like this week and is working now. She is actually having a gallery showing soon that she is preparing for and is applying for another one in New York. I'm really excited for her! :) Her work is really good! But of course, I'm kind of biased.

My secret ingredient to make dreads look beautiful!

General Questions

That's pretty cool. Is she still in school for it or is she actually out there working on video's? Oh and I didn't mean to sound offended, in case that's what you got :) Victoria said:
lol! No, your opinion was really good!! A video can only mean what the viewer gets from it sooo . . . your opinion IS one of the videos meanings!!
The only reason I know more about it is because my older sister is also a video artist and I like listening to her talk about and critique her 'competition'. :)
