Dread Beads.

General Questions

I bought a couple of beads when I first got my dreads done - but they all slipped off. I was a wax user at the time...... since Ive stopped using wax they've gotten way fatter and have some really awesome lumps in them - so the beads I bought now fit snugly ontop of some great looking lumps! 1 is mother of pearl, which was particularly too big, glad I tried again once they had some time to develop!

only 30 dreads.....

General Talk

I guess it all depends on how thick your hair is to begin with chick...... Ive only got around 28. I felt the same way to begin with but now am totally happy with my dreadies and couldn't love them more! Give it time - they'll grow on ya ; )

Crazy Dread Cutting Video On Youtube

General Talk

Man o man! This guy is outrageous! Pretty spectacular end to a 7 year era! You've got to admit - its got to be better than sitting infront of a mirror alone cutting them 1 by 1, that would be so much sadder. Crazy aussies!!! lol

Oh that makes sense. No - no messages were received, just thought it disappeared! Was going to repost in dream group but havnt yet. And yes - I was a little concerned that the entire convo was going to end up being about pubes! Thanks SE. And dont worry - the whole "not loved" comment was my sarcastic voice!

SE, is this why an ENTIRE discussion I started a few hours ago has disappeared?? When I click on anything on my page referring to it, it just sends me straight back to the main page. I feel so unloved right now!! ; )

Just looking for some reassurance

Introduce Yourself

Hi David! I've only been dreading for a couple of months now and if Ive learnt 1 thing from this site its that you need to just be patient and let them be. They will tighten up in their own time - no need to tighten and play with them. Infact playing with them can hinder the process as oils and dirt from your hands can be transferred to the dreadies and they'll take longer to matt up. I had the same issue with flakes - I actually just referred to it as scalp gunk - yours is a little more dignified! I found that washing every week or so with the baking soda wash as recommended on here by EVERYONE and just every couple of days rinsing with water in the shower kept it at bay. I was a wax user (insert ooohs here) because I knew no better and used to play with the ALL the time. A few weeks ago I stopped using it and kinda just forgot about them and they are looking better and better each day.Anyway enjoy the journey!! Hope you find everyone on here as ensightful and friendly as I have.(All you experienced dreadies out there please correct me if anything I have said is wrong!!)Love & light
