@aquaguy it took me around 4 years to get my first knot from a bald head. Don't be discouraged as you've already had a dream you sadly combed out. That's one thing about Freeforming, if you want them to form nicely, you gotta stay on top of what hair you allow to stick to the seed(the first tiny knots you notice. As long as you're using a residue-free shampoo your hair will eventually grow into something. My head still has a lot of loose hair, but I absolutely love what my head has become. It was 2010 when I last shaved head. Or brushed hair.

I shaved my head bald in Sept 2010 and haven't cut or brushed since. Residue-free shampoo & separating is the key! Took maybe 4 years to get 1st knot, and my head is nowhere near being fully locked, but I LOVE what my hair has become. So I've either been freeforming for 9 years or 5 years depending on when you consider when I "started" ;P It has given me a completely different outlook on life.

Dreading Methods
Dreadlocks to me are the Anti-Hairstyle. They literally grow themselves. Perfect salon dreads are not what I think of when I see dreads I consider Incredible. There's no way in hell I could sit through what this guy is to get pretty hair. No personality JMHO.

I've worked in kitchens for years & just used to twist my hair in a bun and tuck it in my hat. Looked a bit weird, but I really didn't care. I also used to just wear a couple hair nets. As for the grease & the smell I just washed my hair as usual. Just be sure to use a residue-free shampoo
