Unraveling

Dread Maintenance

They look great! No need to worry. I've had mine 7 years and they aren't dreaded at the roots, they never will be. What i used to do when i was younger was grab each individual dreadlock at the very top by your scalp and kinda move it in a circular motion, i used to do each dread haha took forever but it did help to lock a little better. I haven't touched them in years though besides ripping them apart sometimes. They enjoy doing their own thing like their meant to! Seriously yours look great i wouldn't mess with it, if you have loose hairs kinda ball them up and stick them inside a dread.

*rookie dread-boy* got some questions

Dread Maintenance

I have never used anything but my hands at times... I never needed any products. The only thing i used and have always used was shampoo and mine are growin strong. Everyone's hair is different though but in my experience it will dread on its own without anything. There was this one time i tried honey someone told me to haha BAD IDEA. I never tried anything since.

How tight should the hole be?

Dread Products

I think that beads in your hair should be the same tightness as rings on your finger. They should be on there good but you dont want them too tight cause then whatever you use to clean, shampoo for example would probably build up underneath. I have actual rings in my hair, not beads and they are on as tight as they would be on my finger, none have fallin' off either. you just kinda have to experiment you'll know when its too tight.

Sacrifice

Member Journals and Timelines

I think it makes the hair really weak. Bleach is terrible in general i can't believe i once put it on my scalp. I used to dye my dreads and some became weak and broke off.

What do you think??

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

I think the color would look pretty hot. But in my experience with dying my dreads after time they can get really weak and break off sometimes. I've done quite a few colors and i regret it all i wish i just kept my natural color and never died my hair. Bleach is terrible especially for your hair. My color has grown out and it is now my natural color and i love it, I think you look great the way you are.

I think you should just do it, it's your hair. They will grow to love them.

What's the weirdest question you've been asked towards your dreads?

General Talk
