Solace of the Solitary

General Talk

Adam Kelly...I completely respect your point of view some peopleare fact people, others trust their feelings. I am more a feelings person. I can't explain my spirituality and I am not saying wikipedia is the most reliable source of information (it was dead on for me in this casebut hey). As you stated the notion is extremely subjective. And becausethe notion is so subjective we can't debating eachothers faith in what we believe.Belief is something that an individual has come to know as honest and true..we can't debate and have a winning side whenwe are debating who someone is at the core.

And sometime when you feel it, it is there. When my fiance passed (unexpectedly, wasn't sick, didn't have a dangerous job) The night he passed I felt him embrace me (yes i'mserious), I started cryinginstantly, I knewsomething happened to him..Called his phone called hisfriends..The next dayI found out he passed that night.I am not sharing this personal experience because I want you to believe ingod orsouls or whatever...I mean I don't even know what that was...I am sharing this because sometimes when you feel it, sometimes when its something you can't explain, even though you can't explain it now or have facts to back it up doesnt also mean itsnot true or wrong.I am a feelings person may not always be right but may not always be wrong. Kinda like facts they are facts until someone proves anerror in the evidence. Irespect that you are so passionate about your beliefs and know who you are. OneLove!

Ashley, I really wish you could issue some "facts". I'm all about the evidence, but I can respect that you do not want to get into a debate. I'm finished talking about this matter anyway.Baba was right when he said there is no changing the minds of those who do not want to see. It works equally well both ways.

SE, I looked up the story and, by all means, it appears to be a rumour. There are no proper sites that mention it. By proper sites, I mean ones that dont have stories of bigfoot etc. Evolution is a fact, gravity is a fact, that living things die is a fact, but long hair giving you special powers is pure fabrication. There is no basis for the belief in reality. Very vague reports on unreliable sites do not warrant belief.

B-Bomb, with all respect, I feel that they do accept that some people just dont believe. I accept that they do believe in this, but Im just voicing my views. There is no argument, only debate.

As I said previously, spirituality surely has metaphysical connotations (wikipedia isnt the most reliable source of information). The notion is extremely subjective. If only there was some objective way to measure it, I might believe.

In the words of Thom Yorke Just cause you feel it, doesnt mean its there.

Thats all folks! Take care.

Thanks. And I was about to jump right in there and start debating with facts and what not..You should have seen the first post I had written, but I thought I would just speak thepersonallove that I have found with them.To some its just hair andthat's awesome but some have more to learn through out this journey and with knowledgeand experiences it can change your true being which can be extremely spiritual. You don't need to see god(s) or feel god(s)for something tobe spiritual. Spirituality can honestly have nothing to do with a religion. Thank for the kind words again!MuchLoveBaba!!

Beautifully said Ashley. And thank you for moving the topic in another direction. There is no changing the minds of those who do not want to see. I am guilty of letting this debate go around and around.

(Im not going to really touch on the debating above because I personally believe there is no need to really debate over and over again what others feel/believe/experience, it's hard to change the truth thats in someone's heart. It's nice to debate but once it gets to a point of your wrong, i find it BS..No one is all mighty that you can say you know all and that what other's know is rubbish). I find my dreads to allow me to connect to my heart to who I am, that is a spiritual connection. Ill go to the most basic place for the definition of spirituality Wiki "an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being"... I started dreading because I find it to be beautiful. I am so sick of others defining what beauty should be from our weight, to our hair, to clothes we wear. Im heartbroken that my 13 year old cousin is so worried what others think that it blocks her from truly loving herself, truly seeing that loving yourself is beauty. I find strength in my dreads..When my own family member tells me "I don't like your dreads you were prettier before" and I tell her "I FEEL beautiful and I am not doing this because I care what others think or because I want others to think I am beautiful, I am doing this because I am confident in who I am and my dreads are an express of the love I have for myself". My dreads teach me patience every day when I am frustrated with separating them. Through dreading I have realized how quick others are to judge..And through that judgment I learned to love others unconditionally with no expectations of anything in return..Because that allows love to be pure. With my dreads I have learned the true path I want to take with my life.. that is a spiritual connection. I have learned I want to help others. I want to help build confidence in the youth..Teach them what love really is. Yes someone can look at me and say that are just dreads..But the inner path they have taken me on to find my true being is certainly spiritual. They have allowed me to connect to love..And love is my religion. So I believe yes its just hair but the inner path it takes you on when we grow up in a society that so wrapped up in materialistic BS well that path can be a spiritual one.

Dry Dreads/ Fine hair/ Separation

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Wisconsin...I'll have to ordersomething from dreadlockshampoo.com causei'm pretty worried about them.I'llalso try using more ACV in my rinse. Thanks so much for the advise Eagle andBaba.

Baba Fats said:

Eagles right. And if you don't mind letting us know, where in the US are you? Some soaps, like Dr. B's and BS, don't like hard water. They just don't rinse out well, and Dr. B's leaves a heavy residue. That could be why it makes your hair feels heavy. The soaps from dreadlockshampoo, com are designed to work in hard or soft water.

Dry Dreads/ Fine hair/ Separation

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Background: I did the RnT which I wish Ijust did thenatural methodbut im 3 months in and some dreads are really dreaded so I don't want to start over. I have used baking soda/ACV rinse (makes my hair feel really dry), Dr. B and Knotty boybut I feel they weigh my dreads down (I have fine hair). I don't do anything to them but wash them and separate them (I don't want to damage my scalp or have bald spots in the futuredue to unnecessary maintenance).

I know strinkage is normal but on my neck I have some long dreads and some stubs some dreads have shrunk9 inches back there(seriously). is this normal?

My biggest frustration is separation. I have some straight hair (which im tryin to let that just dread naturally) and some dreaded hair and within one day they arealreadyknotted toother dreads and trying to separate them is really hard idk if its because my hair is so dry? andno matter howgently I try to separate themmy hair breaks so easily. I just really want to keep mydreads in healthy shape. Also sometimes when I separate my scalp hurts a little and i'm not pulling hard at all. I want to keep my hair healthy and I do have fine hair but the breakage worries. Maybe im overthinking..But would love any advise or just to know others have been in the same boat with their journey. OneLove.

Curly dreads

Introduce Yourself

So I'm about 2 and half weeks into my dreads and they look like a curl more than a dread will this curl stay? Does anyone else have curly dreads? I'm feeling the curls so this is more a wonder than a concern. :)

Advise for a women with longer fine hair...

Introduce Yourself

There are SO many forums on this site that its hard to go through all of them to find the answers to the questions I need. I started my dreads about 2 weeks ago (rnp) I was trying to just leave them so that they could dread on their own but I have really fine hair and every time I washed them with just natural shampoo they would fall out more and more with each wash (washed every 3 days). So till last night I had straight hair all over and just a couple dreads, my friend said enough is enough and rubberbanded them and backcombed them. Some of my problems I have been finding isthat my roots tend to flatten out after I sleep and makes it look like I am balding all over (due to my fine hair, I have a lot of hair just fine). Should I be doing something to prevent this from happening? (any tips from fine hair ladies) would smaller or bigger dread make me look like im not balding? I really love the look of women that have dreads where its loose and volumized at the roots but yet the dreads look still solid and clean through out the rest of the hair...Any tips for these type of dreads? Sorry I am so new to this but I LOVE dreads so any tips would be so helpful on my journey.Namaste!
