Lock Magic Gel

Dread Products

My frizz seems to be settling down some now. I did use a little spray of rosemary oil & lavender oil mixed with water and it worked out pretty well. Some days are frizzier than others..... and that's starting to be okay with me.

separation

Dread Maintenance

Good to know, thank you both! I've been doing it after every wash. I'm only 2 weeks into this so I didn't really know if that was right. It scared me the first time I heard the "popping" sound!! ha ha ha Thankfully I had read somewhere on this site that that was normal or I would have freaked out!!

:)

separation

Dread Maintenance

Does it make any difference weather I separate when my dreads are dry or wet? I've been doing it after I wash them, but wasn't sure if that was right.

Cleaning gone wrong...HELP!

Help! Save My Dreads

Thank God I didn't use wax! It's funny too how so many people (friends of mine) that have never had dreads are such "experts" and they all said to use wax!! ha ha ah I am so grateful I found this site!

Deezie, my son has dreads, about 2 months older than mine. He had big, almost giant flake looking things at first. He used the baking soda & ACV about every 2 days and it cleared up pretty quikly! If I remember right, he put some tea tree oil in with the BS wash.

Finally, a hairstyle that fits my hair type!

Introduce Yourself

I am in the same boat. I've always had very long, thick hair... a hassle! My dreads are two weeks old and I'm loving it as well!!

Happy 4th!

chlorine made dreads stiff and hard

Dread Maintenance

Mine are getting really dry from swimming in the ocean. I go 4 or 5 days a week. Today I mixed rosemary oil & lavender oil in a spray bottle of water and misted my hair with it. It did seem to help a little with the dryness. I think tomorrow I'll try adding the oils to the ACV rinse.

I wondered what effect chlorine would have on them. Good to know.

washing too often....

Dread Maintenance

Thank you Julia! I think I'll just rinse like you said. It makes a lot of sense!

Hey, I might not be much help but I'm in the same boat as you. I go to the beach almost every day and swim in the salt water. After I go to the beach I just give my head a quick rinse, I dont even thoroughly wash it. I just hold it under the water until i feel it all wet and then squeeze it out. They are fine after that. I dont think you should use the baking soda wash every day. Knowing that salt water is actually very good for your dreads to tighten up, its not a bad thing to keep it in there a little bit.

washing too often....

Dread Maintenance

I pretty much live at the beach. I am there at least 5 days a week. My baby dreads are just over a week old. My problem, I want to wash my hair when I get home from the beach. How much is too much? I've been using BS wash. So far they are doing really well and don't seem to be affected but I don't want to do something I shouldn't be doing.

By the way..... the people in this site are so kind and caring. I really appreciate that a lot!
