Dreadlockshampoo review

Dread Products

A person tends to get cleaner and use less shampoo. Wetting first creates a barrier that your shampoo has to get through before it can get to the dirt. If you apply to dry hair, you're only putting shampoo where you need it, and in greater potency; thus eliminating the whole 'half my shampoo rinses out while I'm lathering' problem. Plenty of it rinses through the hair as you rinse, so why use extra just to get it there?

Dreadlockshampoo review

Dread Products

First, let me say, it shipped on THURSDAY. It got here an hour ago. The first thing I did was jump in the shower. I LOVE the way it smelled, right off the bad. I always put my shampoo in dry hair, and I was surprised how well it lathered without adding water. (that's a good thing) It really didn't take much, so it'll likely last quite a while, and it got my hair cleaner than it's been in a long time, even having used BS and ACV the last few weeks.

The only thing I was disappointed about, and I really shouldn't be anyways, is that it rinsed out so well it didn't leave any smell behind; I was really hoping to smell like patchouli. But, in the long run, that's a good thing, because it means it's not leaving any residue in my hair. Overall, I plan on buying more as soon as I have some money.

Dry Dreadlocks

Introduce Yourself

You can use coconut oil. I've only used it in undreaded hair, but it doesn't leave the same oily residue as some low-melt-point oils, and heavier oils. You pretty much follow the instructions for wax. Take about a gram per 8ish inches, rub it into the dread. Palmroll if it makes you feel better lol. It's great stuff. Definitely get the organic, cold-pressed kind though; it's got more nutrients and such in it.

loose hairs!?!

Introduce Yourself

Don't worry, my grandma says the same stuff about my dreads, and I'm almost 6 weeks in. She says there aren't any on the back, and it just looks like I quit brushing my hair (well, duh), and they're not going to get tighter, and they're just nasty, and 'please just brush it'. But I just tell her I like it this way, and she seems to be finally understanding that I'm not going to brush them out.

they think mine have completely become ruined and fallen out. they think they are a failed attempt event though I'm telling them that dreads don't look dready right away.

My BS wash recipe

Dread Products

For the last two weeks, I've been doing a plain BS wash, followed by ACV rinse. Last week I was getting frustrated, because my hair was getting too dry. Sooo... I wanted to add some essential oils. Problem is, I'm dead broke. I gave up, and decided that if it got too bad, I'd just do a coconut oil treatment. Three days ago, I was looking at the back of my diaper rash spray bottle, and I read that the ingredients were lavender oil infused with chamomile, tea tree oil, and jojoba oil, in a witch hazel suspension. I though; well, all but the witch hazel sounds great. Witch hazel, as an astringent, could prove damaging. So I decided to check out the sample I had of the 'concentrated' version of the same spray. TA-DA! Same stuff, no witch hazel! I've been mixing it into my BS wash for two washes now, and my hair feels SO healthy!

1 gallon lukewarm water
1/4 cup baking soda
about 1tsp Kissaluvs Diaper Lotion Potion-concentrated

PS: It smells AWESOME!

So if you happen to have it around (I know it's not super common, but it's not exactly a secret either, especially for cloth diapering families), or you don't mind spending the (relatively small amount of) money on it, know that it comes well recommended by someone who's been using it on the butt of a very sensitive-skinned child for well over a year.

Thanks. I'm pretty proud of them. I'm working on a pikachu, but I can't get the tail right.
