1 YEAR UPDATE finally! (Pics from before till present)

Member Journals and Timelines

This is a pic i took while i was still growing my hair, very thick and curly.

still growing!

Then i made a big mistake, went and crocheted, backcombed and "made" dreads (which actually i dont regret, i always like to think positive :) ). Thankfully did not add wax. DAY 1

they look so fake! haha. anyway after almost two months of frequent crocheting i came across this site. Immedeitly i stopped crocheting and just let my hair be. My hair became so frizzy. I followed advice from most expereinced and just didnt care.

this is 1 month after i stopped crocheting (3 months all together)

getting more frizzier! at this point i have take out 3 of the most frizziest dreads completely out cos i was really frustrated with them :S (3 months into crochet recovery, 5 months alltogether)

5 months into crochet recovery (7months all together) things were starting to look alot better. frizz was taming, and i can feel and see that my dreads are being more "naturalized"

And now its been exactly a year, and there is an obvious difference compared to the picture from day 1. They have matured alot and the fake look is fading away.

close up!

There s still more to recover but if it wasnt for this site, i woudve either cut off my dreads by now or i have dreadlocks look a like damaged hair in one place. Thanks to everyone who help me throughout my journey providing valuable info and inspiration.

Lesson learned: from 1 year of experenice...well this cant be stressed upon more, dreads need time time and more time thats all. therers still alot to learn from all of you, i will be around

PEACE!

dread update >> 329 days!!

Member Journals and Timelines

hey ppl

jus wanna update on my crochet recovery,

its going great, way faster than i thought it would be...maybe cos my hair growth is naturally very fast. about quater of each of my dreads are new hair growth which has dreaded. there are lot of loops n zig zags, and they are starting to congo as well.

its stilla bit frizzy but theres a big difference compared to moths back..

there are few dreads at the back of my head that didnt get my attention at all (cos i cant reach them) and i think they are very very matured, minimum frizz even the parts that i crocheted

i was thinking of unblunting all the tips, isit a good idea? any advice iswelcomce and appreciated :D

thanks for evryoen who helped me so far in my journey

peace!

congos! :S need some advice

Dread Maintenance

hey ppl!

i think some of my dreads are starting to congo...but the thing is, its connected by only like 2 or 3 strands of hair, if u get what i mean.

shud i just leave it or seperate them by breaking the strands of hair/?

i did separate some by breaking these strands of hair, and i think its making my dreads frizier cos the strands of hair that i break are just flying around :S:S

any advice will be very helpful

thanks!!! :)

No more maintenance.

Dread Maintenance

dont bother at all..im almost half a year into crochet recovery now, and dreads are feeling great

ill give you a heads up though; your dreads are gonna be so frizzy and can be frustrating.

best thing is avoid mirrors and just stopthinking about it, like everyone say

goodluck!!
