Help! Save My Dreads

I couldn't get rubbing alcohol so had to use live remedy stuff. It's workd but my dreads are super dry kinda like straw, what can I do ? They are really really dry, lots of loose hairs and I'm concerned they will break.Any suggestions?Thank you x

Roots

Help! Save My Dreads

Right I started my dreads a year ago, via the natural way. The underside of my hair was done the natural way as it dreads up pretty quick anyways for some reason, the top part of my hair I crocheted ( please don't moan I have zero patience). My issue is with the natural dreads, one part has really loose roots, which I've read is normal but they are flat to my head and a patch of my head about 2x2 inches looks crappy and flat and from a distance kinda looks like a bald patch, I tend to pull dreads over to cover it up but it's bugging me. It's the roots of 4 chunky dreads and they seem adamant to become one and keep joining and I don't want them as one dread so constantly separate them.If I keep separating them will the roots end up becoming ermmmm kinda more defined and less flat to my head(if that makes Amy sense at all lol)?I guess I am looking for reassurance, this dread thing is new to me even after a year :)Love and hugs x

I have wool dreads, I made them myself. Wool dreads last for ages some of mine Ive has in for a long time. As long as you wash and dry them as your dreads they stay lovely and clean as long as they are 100% wool. At the end of the day it's sleeps hair so all natural :) mine aren't smelly at all. As time goes on the get fatter and sort of evolve in the same way as dreads. There are many ways of attaching them, mine are sewn into my mature dreads but still easily removable. You can make a long 'tail' and just wrap t around the dread. You can also attach them to hair bobbles (the ones with nonmetal bits) and have them just as an accessory.I love my wool dreads and have always added colour to my hair via wool as I have never died my hair or never will :)

Thanks :)

I also have another couple of questions and not sure where to post them, my husband is growing his beard and wants to dread that, would it be the same as with head hair? lol, not too sure, we both want to go the natural route but he also wants it to be right too :)

Thanks

Introduce Yourself

Hi,

I'm Amy, full time mum and have wanted to do something to my hair for a while, I really struggle with my hair, it's a nightmare to brush every morning and hurts like hell and even then when it is brushed it looks awful it goes all fluffy....so I put it up...

But about 10 days ago I decided to stop brushing and let it do it's own thing...I have a few friends who have crocheted their hair so looked into it but I don't think any of the dreading mathods are for me...So natural is the way to go...

However my hair looks amazing! Messy and squggly and twiddly and twirly, this is the 1st time I have loved my hair and it's messy! So I am not bothered if it dreads or not now :P No more brushing is the absolute highlight! No more pain in the mornings!

I just have to figure out what sectioning is and see how it goes....but so far letting my hair free has boosted my self confidence for once I don't care what others think of me!

Chat soon xx
