I think I'll go for "surprise dreads," lol.

Hey there Lady, does not matter what you call them, they are dreadlocks. So how do you maintain them? Just like Amanda said, wash 2-3 times a week and separate any sections trying to join onto each other. That's it, real easy huh? Your hair may shrink, loop & zig zag, just let them be when they do, that is how they mature. There is nothing else for you to do but enjoy your "accidental" dreads....peace

I can't even believe this happened. What do I even call them? Are the natural or what? Lol :)

Dread Maintenance

Hey guys, I joined the site to prepare for my natural locks and get advice. I took out my synthetic dreadlocks and my hair kinda well, was dreaded. Very loose at the roots but the rest is knotted up with loose tips. I washed my hair with dreadsoap and they've stayed in place!

Any advice on how to maintain my accidental dreadlocks?

Hello from England :)

Introduce Yourself

Hi guys, I'm new to the site and I have a few questions about getting my natural dreadlocks started.

My hair is fairly short at the minute; reaching to my shoulders at the back and my chin at the front. I know this is long enough to start dreadlocks, and I'm blessed with nice thick hair, but are the any method could use to help the dreadlocks along, or should I just hide my hair brush and conditioner?

Also, would any of you recommend I wait until my hair is longer? I don't mind waiting but I've read elsewhere that it doesn't matter.

Also, if anyone has any advice of how my hair type will dread, I'd be happy to read whatever you've got to say.

My hair type - about 8inches from the top of my head to just above my shoulders at the back, slight wave to it if I don't use straightners. About 5inches from the top of my head to my chin at the front.

Thanks, look forward to what you have to say.
