he basically just followed me to this thread, started and argument over them term natural, insulted my way of life and called me names because we don't happen to agree on a term, I am so over this pointless argument, everybody should just do what they want instead of trying to convince others through insulting and degrading people. It's so hypocritical and pathetic if you ask me.

crocheting seems to cause more damage.

It drives me a little crazy that there are threads with half an argument in them. Delete all the posts involved or don't delete anything. This selective deleting is making a lot of unnecessary confusion. It also looks like a game of favorites.

exactly thats why i changed the name of the group to whiney dreads all theyre doing is whining about the definition of a term thats widely accepted and the 8 of them have no hope of ever convincing anyone the definition should be changed.. its just idiotic petty whining and its got to stop

So he just deleted his own posts and left?I hate it when people post things then take them down. Follow through or don't say it. I also hate it when I am reading through a thread and all the sudden can't figure out what's going on.I don't understand why anyone gives a shit what the "name" of the method that started there dreads was. If you like your dreads, and you picked the method, WHO CARES.But yeah. Who knows these days.

I completely agree and think we should all just have the decency and respect to allow others to use the term they are comfortable with, without being negative or attacking someone because they don't happen to agree. It's just really sad. Some people are upset over others using the term natural method to describe doing nothing to start their dreads and are feeling judged by the term if it doesn't fit the method they chose to start their own dreads, but are then in turn judging others and just being rude because of it. Why do we have to agree? Why can't we agree to disagree respectfully? Everyone's opinions are valid and should do as they wish, why does it have to turn into something mean spirited and nasty??? There has been some very childish behavior by some people, I wish we could just squash it and move on. The grown up thing to do is to realize we all have different opinions and just because we don't all happen to agree on one particular term doesn't mean we should throw a fit and bring negativity upon the whole forum. respect each other and understand that we are all different people with different opinions and truths. Sharing of thoughts & ideas is one thing this has gone a tad too far. I hope we can end the rift.

then let it be a possitive experience for all and stop insisting on causing trouble..all because u dont accept the meanning of a word? seriusly? yea its gone now cause it was nothing but trouble and was spilling out all over.. just get over it natural dreads are natural dreads end of story adding more confusion to an already confused convcept doews nothing at all to help understanding it just adds confusion..as it is too many already dont understsand that dreads can form naturally they do think crochets natural if its noty chemical if you try to further distirt that understanding then you asre doing great harm..instersd you should be educating ppl what it ereally means so theyre not so confused..

but the definition of natural dreads is dreads that occur naturaly so its not an opinion its a definition.. do u define human and dog as both being human cause both have eyes? yes dogs desserve the same respect as humans but they by definition are a different species..dog therefor dreads as well are diifferent catagories natural..homemade or..salon..then theres methods within the catagories like breeds of dog or races of humands.. these are not arguable ..they arre the defining factors that seperate 1 from another

Hmm. I'm kind of jumping in here without fully understanding what's going on, but I'll give it a whirl. The term "natural" apparently only applies to some dreads, based on criteria with blurry edges, for example washing and seperating is natural, but palm rolling or tucking away loose hairs or loopsis not. Seperating sections is natural, but encouraging them to knot (back combing, tnr) is not. Maybe it's the implication of being unnatural that is the clincher here. I'm very involved in the development of my dreads, I roll them, I pet them, I tuck away stray bits. They haven't had a whole lot of opportunity to "do their own thing" but I've never considered them unnatural... I dont think the dogs analogy is quite appropriate here, it's more like hey, an infant will walk on her own eventually. Just about all kids do. They will one day figure it out and get one foot under the other. Is it unnatural to hold their hands and help them to walk? If all hair dreads on it's own regardless, I don't understand why there's a distinction in the first place? (This is stated besides the obviously detrimental methods like felting and waxingor whatever)

Much love all! xoxox!

I think we see what we wish to see sometimes and all of our truths are not the same. There were definitely some people in that group that were not practicing what they preached. In fact doing the exact same thing they were supposedly fighting against...there was some childish behavior going on around the site. Hopefully we can from this point on just focus on what matters. Maxe does have a point in that if someone is happy with their dreads who cares how they were started or what they call them and that needs to be a 2 way street. Everybody should be able to get along no matter how they chose to start, maintain or not maintain their dreads.
