Hey, that is still cool that you are able to make a living from it, and it keeps you fresh for when you get that chance to write a novel. : ) Yeah, my husband does write short things here and there for personal gratification, but the time needed to invest in a full length book just isn't there yet ; ) That's good to hear that your dread babies didn't get damaged by coloring. I will be doing it in a week or so.My hair is kind-of being weird right now like it hit aplateau or something. It's frizzing all over the place and hairs are coming out of the TnR instead of knotting more. Its only been 26 days and it might be part of the process. I know with neglect/natural you get messy before things start really happening. I wonder if it's the same with TnR? I hope this is normal ; )
I currently write for private clients about whatever they want me to write, really. (Anything from instructionalpiecesto blog posts to product reviews and everything in between lol)Really it'sghost writing as my name doesn't get put on any of the work. Would love to write a novel or two one day. But bad writingabout glittery vampires seems to be the in thing right now. Anne Rice is my idol and much more my style. If it's his passion, then he should write, even if it's just for himself. It's good for the soul.
The hair dying was a bit of a mess. I was worried I wouldn't get all of the roots, so I really got my fingers in and some got on my face LMAO!I will have my husband help from now on (which he offered and I was just impatient LOL). Otherwise, it worked out fine, everything dyed nicely and it doesn't seem as though any of the knots have come out. Maybe get some help the first time around? I'm figuring the dye is going to help since it dries out the hair and without the conditioner, alwaystangled up my hair LOL
I think that is so cool that you are a writer. What do you write? My husband is the avid reader of our family. I read alot on the internet and do alot of research on different subjects, but never got into fiction or books in hand much (even though I LOVE books, the feel, smell, look). My husbands dream is to write, but alas he is the main bread winner with a good job so that hasn't worked out yet. After our youngest moves out he will be able to dig in completely ; ) We know all too well about being frugal. We shop at three different stores to save money on groceries and that doesn't include the farmers market ; ) Lol! How did the hair dying work? Did you have any issues with it? I have to touch up my roots soon and it will make me nervous. I don't want to ruin the tops of my dreads because they are really starting to matt-up. I don't want gray roots either sooooooo......I will take that chance ; ) Well I will keep following your journey as I'm sure you will be following mine! : )
We all have to be frugal these days! I work from home as a writer and it doesn't guarantee a decent paycheck every month (or even a paycheck some monthsfor that matter LOL). We mainly use my payas unexpectedextra and use my husband's for everything else. Being frugal has made it so that we live pretty good and even better than quite a few of our family and friends whohavetwo steady incomes.
I will see what winter brings for this hair. I've never liked doing anything to my hair, except dying it,and even before dreads, I didn't brush it everyday LOL
I did just find two of my own little babies that have joined. It's at the top of my head, so I am undecided whether I will separate it although it will be quite big if I don't. LOL I'll see once I wash the dye off my head in a bit.
Your hair has decided to give you a taste of natural, I love it!
Oh, afrugalone are we? Lol! We are too : ) Yeah, air drying is going to be easier for you in the summer. Winter might be hard and you might need to do a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment so you don't blow out the sectioning. I am afraid to scrub, so I rub my scalp in tiny circles when I shampoo. My roots are still starting to get out of hand. If I don't get it wet in the day it looks REALLY frizzy. After I wet it at least, it tightens up again. My underneath is pretty much on its own as the TnR pretty much started coming loose on those, plus I did it myself and couldn't get to alot of it. I just paid a bit of attention to it yesterday and found one of my TnR that had remained had married a tiny clump of hairs about 4 inches away, so I had this really far apart split root going on. I had to pull the small hair clump and it literally was all the down to the end of that dread. It made a tearing away sound and I actually felt guilt for pulling them apart. (issues on my part ; ) I will now make sure I keep separating them underneath now. That happened fast. Because the top layer is pretty much together I wasn't realizing that I need to deal with the bottom layer in the natural neglect way by making sure they are separated. All by my ears is on its own too, no TnR, so I am enjoying a bit of both processes now. : )
Well, I don't use anything special to wash my hair as I am a couponer and I have a bunch of bottles of shampoo (and conditioner and different styling products - sigh lol). So, right now, I am usingregular shampoo every2-3 days.It hasn't seemed to affect the process thus far, though, and the ones on top and mid-waystay togethernow, before they would knot and unknot as they pleased. Thelower back I just noticed, so we'll see how that goes lol. I've used the bs/acvto helpwhen I had the itchies, but that was only twice.Yup. I scrub, sometimes pretty hard. I dab it with a towel afterI get out of the shower and then let it air dry. Very rarely do I blow dry it, although, this may become morecommon (or something else will have to happen)as my undreaded hair, when longer, takes 8+ hours to dry. I'll be dying the roots today or tomorrow, so we'll see what that does to it, also.
It looks like it's separating to me. I count at least 40 on their way in the back. The one's on top and mid-way down look pretty tight together. Do they stay together pretty well after you shampoo? Do you scrub when you wash or are you real gentle and do you wrap it in a towel? I am curious as to what other people do when they are new into it too. It's definitely making progress and it's quite a difference from your first pic. : )
