I don't understand how anyone can abuse an animal. I am happy that he has you guys to help him back. I will post a couple pictures of my cats. Maybe today or tomorrow : ) If our power is still up. We are just starting to get some of the bands from Irene now.
These two have been through quite a bit to keep us all together especially Frankie. My dogs seem to be an extension of myself as well. I've had Delilah since she was a pup (will be2 yrsin October)and we rescued Sabastian (4 yrs old)from the shelter in January. He's a special needs case-- he is an ex sled dog that was horribly abused by a man for the first 3 yrsand then mistreated by a woman for the 4th year (both owners were mushers). He is just about the sweetest thing in the world, but so scared of everything but me and Delilah. He's chuggin along very slowly, but we'll get him to where he needs to be.
Birds are a very interesting species, indeed I can't think of a better past time to have. Peaceful and exciting all at the same time.

Awe! He looks so young too. I understand about pet parents. They ARE part of the family and if we ever had to go live in a tent, homeless or whatever, they would come with I really love all animals, dogs too. We just never had the right living situation for dogs to raise them right. I am partial to animals overall wild and domestic, including birds, especially lately. Must be an age thing. My husband and I have taken a real interest in bird calls and recognizing them. I joked with him and said we are going to be those old couples with the bird watching binoculars, khaki vests, little note pads and bird books, Lol!!!
He was just shy of 17 and taken way too early in my eyes Their actual names are Kissa Gitana and Nathanial Franklin, but he always went by Frankie. Yeah, I'm one of those pet parents
I can't say I have a preference to cats or dogs. I have two of each and I love them all the same and they are all my babies.
