between 10-11 months. I do feel a little embarrassed about the way it looks. I know its naturally doing what it does (kinks and loops) but sometimes it's hard just leave the house in all my glory. That's probably why I wear it up a lot. Note: Im not talking about the zig zags dreadies, of which i have a few. I actually love the wavy looking ones.
I've noticed the hair at the nape (which is finer and softer) actually tangled up faster and into thicker ropes. These particular ropes along the nape of the neck are thick enough that loops and kinks don't form.
The smaller strands along the crown are more wild and prone to kink up. These are the ones that look the weirdest. I'm debating whether it would be better for me to stop separating most of the strands in hopes they will join thicker and more resilient dreadlocks. I really wanted some skinny dreads in there, haha. But maybe my hair type just can't sustain so many.
In terms of separating the dreadlocks: I still MUST keep this up although it's now an every other day thing. Again, I grow tired of ripping them so much that I'm tempted to just leave them be and only separate super thick conjoinments. I'm afraid I'll rip my hair so much I'll end up with chunks falling out.
