Welcome. First off, wax will prevent locks from ever maturing. They will look and feel mature because the wax is sticky and holds your hair in place, and then it hardens, creating the illusion of maturity. But underneath the wax, they never actually matured past the first day you put it on. And because wax is a hydrocarbon, it NEVER washes out in normal soap and water. You need a detergent and tons of scrubbing to get it out. Due to it being a hydrocarbon, water will get trapped in your locks and won't be able to get out and dry. Instead it will begin to decompose your hair, while keeping it stuck to your head. This alone will keep your locks from getting thicker and fuller.
The yarn will only serve to keep even more water trapped in your locks, making them take even longer to dry, adding to the chances of mold and mildew.
The first thing you need to do for your desired results is to get the wax out. Check out the dreaducation page for wax removal tips. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask
