They will always look fro'ish when they are younger. Especially with your hair type. No reason to jump on the interlocking wagon. I have a few videos on my page that detail how to go about separating. That should help. With your hair type, you'll probably just have to do it a little more often. From your pics, they look fine. Not like a fro at all. As they grow out, they will get heavier and the roots will mature into their own sections so that they won't keep getting sucked into other nearby locks. It takes time. But with mixed hair,it'll be sooner than you'd think. You could take biotin pills to help grow your hair faster. It takes about 3 months to kick in, but when it does, it really makes a difference.

i got a suggestion

when thery loosen upo0...let them

thats a nesacary part of the process

the gels and anything that holds will prevent them from dreading they need to be free to move and knot

interlocking woy]=uld be a horible mistake

just stop the maintenance ket them dread

if they loosen up and fal, apart completely thats just fine they will section themselves bvack out thjen dread

the gels only hurting the proces

Welcome. But never retwist your locks. After the first time, you never need to do it again. If you keep retwisting, you will cause traction alopecia. This leads directly to baldness. You should never see your scalp showing betwen your sections

started twist n rip on some sections that are separating themselves out. i have seven baby dreads now! yay! can't wait to see how they all tell me where they want to be! its going to be a process, but isn't life more about the journey than the destination? I gave low residue shampoo, but my hair is pretty fine and slippery. aside from washing it with a bar of ivory, does anyone have any suggestions? keeping in mind I'm a student on a small'rural' island in the middle of the pacific. we do have walmart :(, hideous side effect of tourism as it is...., safeway, and longs drugs as well as wholefoods market and several holistic, organic, hempy, little markets with local and non local herbal organic hygeine and cosmetic products. I thought someone mentioned Dr. Bonner's Pure Castille Soap? does it work well? how is dreadshampoo or bar soap better or more appropriate than Dr. B's? I have oily roots and dry ends. I don't want to dry them worse....I'm thinking a sea salt rinse would be fine after just about any low residue shampoo. is this a bad ide? why?ok. that's probably enough questions for now. thanks so much for your input.Stacey.
