They use destructive methods like crocheting, wax, gels, creams, and yes... interlocking. Interlocking does extreme damage to your hair. It create extreme weak spots, and can cause locks to snap off in places.
If you want whats best for your locks stop going to a salon. Try and get your money back. But most likely that won't pan out. But definitely stop going. They aren't taught ho to grow healthy locks.

no need to use anything to help seperate just use aloe as moisture (yiur african american right/)
jojoba is a great oil for moisture too
