Hi Jen and welcome to the site. The twist & rip method is a blueprint to your dreads sections, they will loosen in time so that they can loop, & zig & zag & shrink. This must happen in order for form mature dreads, so never re twist, as it will set you back in the journey. Now you just wash, separate any section that join together, and enjoy the ride. Peace

Thanks a lot all ^^
I guess this is just a sign of progress then, I will leave it be and see what happens. Hopefully I will see results soon!
I am forced to use head + shoulders on my hair though, hopefully this is not causing too much damage to the process :/

G'day Mate & welcome to the site. Lucky you found us all here to help you along the way. Now you know from other members not to do anything but wash & separate, that's it, pretty easy huh!

Real dreads will grow and take shape on their own, you started the sections and now just let 'em be. They will loosen, as you found out, they will shrink, zig zag, loop and change in appearance and then reward you with awesome mature dreads.

Keep em clean to keep em happy and you will have cool looking dreads.

Peace

Welcome. But palm rolling will only cause problems. If you don't do it often, it doesn't create any lasting knots. If you do it enough to see progress, it destroys your roots
