Welcome.

I feel like I need to warn you about wax, though. Wax is a hydrocarbon. It NEVER washes out in normal soap and hot water. The only way to get wax out is to use a detergent and TONS of scrubbing. It's nasty stuff. All wax does is glues your hair together, keeping loops, tangles, and knots flattened against your hair. This prevents locks from ever maturing. Maybe the hair that has not been waxed in a few years is more mature, but the sections that you initially waxed still have wax in them. This is not a matter of different hair types. Wax is wax. It acts the same no matter what surface it is on. It's a waterproofing agent.

The best case scenario is that no progress will take place.

The worst case scenario (and one that is more common than not), is that water and moisture will get trapped in your locks. This water become stagnant and allows mold/mildew to grow in your hair. After a short amount of time, your hair can begin to rot and decompose while stuck to your head. Mold eats organic matter. Your hair and the wax is nothing but organic matter. So the mold will just keep growing. You would normally smell it, but the odor from the wax and other products could be masking it. But as long as the wax stay in, your run a great risk of growing mold. Trust me from experience, it's nasty.

Nope, that's not me. I have a different hair type, it looks nothing like that, and what I am doing seems to be working well, but thanks anyway.

these "dreads" were waxeed 4 times about in 1st 2 weeks..1/4 the ammount recomended they wrre then wshed regularly for 4 years even boiled to try to remove wx..this was a dread wax wich is suposed to be easy to remove beeswax is much much harder

note after being pulled apsart..ripped in 1/2 the existing wax was enough to glue it back together

just by 1 palm roll

wax is a scam and dread killer

90% of waxed dreads only last 3-4 years

thats what dreads with wax look like on the inside
even when they look like this outside

huge to show details
