A little help from my fellow dread head friends??

General Questions

Hey guys,

So tomorrow I start my summer job, I am a office manager at a very large campground so I deal with the public in a professional manner on a daily basis. I started my natural neglect dreads 5 months ago when my job was over because I knew my boss wouldn't allow for me to start my natural dreads while I was at work. So now, my manager saw my hair and told me I need to keep it back so it looks more professional. But after doing my research I've seen on here that having your hair pulled back often is deadening to your hair and isn't good for my locks. So my question to you guys is, is there any solution to having my hair pulled back and not have it be damaging to my hair? I work more than 40 hours a week, so my idea now is having a hair band pull my hair back and then use a hair tie around the base of the pony tail of dreads just one time around. Any other suggestions or do you think that'll be okay?

Thank you guys,

Logan

P.S. No tam hats, the office is not air conditioned so it's hot as balls in there during the blistering summer. :X

General Talk

Hey all my dread head brothers and sisters. So I've heard all these good things about wool helping locks lock up faster. So yesterday I went to the salvation army to find a cheap wool sweater to put over my pillow case to sleep with to lock them up faster. The only bad thing is the best i could find was 80% wool 20% nylon. I bought that and used it last night. So the question to you guys is, is that good enough to use or should i do a better search for 100% wool? Also, I can't sleep with a tam, so a wool tam isn't an option. Thanks in advance,Logan

You guys are the best! I appreciate all this imput!!!Also, I just tried to separate my locks and I can pull them out if I'm careful by hand. Is that okay? Or should I just do the conditioner/olive oil idea?

Alright I will thanks! @soaringeagle, how do I comb them out? They are starting to lock up nicely already so how should I do it? And also, when I reback comb them, because im gonna redo them all, how many dreads should I start with for a nice thicker set? Just curious if you have any idea. Thanks in advance!

Dread Maintenance

Hey everyone,

Just had a question for you guys. I've had my locks 2 months now. I wanted thicker dreads when i first got them, so the lady that did them made them look great to me when she backcombed them. When she did them i had 13 dreads. I've watched a YouTube video with a girl who had 12 dreads originally but said they ended up so thick that they looked like turds after they got fully locked in and pulled in all the loose hairs. After I heard that I've been worried.I wanted thicker dreads, but not turd size! So my question to you guys is, with me neglecting my dreads and loose hairs are coming out daily (I'm not worried about because i know it's inevidable) will those likely make new dreads and i shouldn't worry too much about turd sized dreads since im not crocheting the loose hairs? or should i call the girl who originally did my locks and see if she can make any new dreads with what loose hairs she can?

Sea Salt spray help?

Dread Maintenance

I went to pet smart and got this brand called instant ocean. I heard that real sea salt like this is good because ocean sea salt has special minerals that help with your hair... But I could be wrong lol

Sea Salt spray help?

Dread Maintenance

Thank you sir! So after I rinse it out well, should I wash it with a shampoo or wait to wash it for another 3-4 days?
