Hiiii :)

Introduce Yourself

Aight yall..

I don't think I've properly introduced myself. I've been a lurker on this site for YEARS...

Before I started my dreads.. i was going through a really tough time in my life and wanted a change..don't get my wrong, I loved my hair weaves but secretly i was in love with natural hair, but everybody kept telling me that I shouldn't do it and having dreads would make me look like a man. I wanted the love of my life to have dreads..

I lovve men with dreads, always wanted a dreadhead after i broke up with my babydaddy for good. I prayedd for a good man(with dreads) to come into my life...and HE DID..showed up a year and a half later. Prayer changes things.. seriously.. anyways back to my original story.

One day after I permed my hair, I looked into the sink and it looked like a sheep was sittin in there..I'm serious!! I lost SOO much hair I was freaking out. I chopped all my hair off told myself i was through with perms.. and started some twists.

My hair was really short 1/2 inch. It was difficult to twist. The first month was a pain.. the kept untwisting.

My mom loves the way my hair looks..it took awhile for people at work to get use to it.. i know some people didn't like it but I'm at that age and mind frame where I don't care about what people think..

Its been 9 months since my last perm.. and its been 5 months since i started my locs.. there are alot longer..3 inches to be exact;) some of them are lockin i will post pics next month.

I want my daughter to have dreads im trying to get her hair to grow some more in the back..hopefully before the end of the year is out..we will have a house of dreadheads... Koolaid man ( OHH YEAH!!)

How to Maintain Small Dreads

Dreading Methods

I have such a hair crush right now!!

Its been 3 weeks and I used the twist method. I have coarse hair, very nappy. And my hair is so thick and I can tell that its growing all ready!! I haven't washed it yet because I'm scared the twist are going to come undone.. I mainly just use water and africas herbal oil. This is the best decision I've ever made with my hair.

Anyways, my dreads are really small and I've been researching on how to maintain small dreads, and I've been hearing that i won't be able to because they are just going to break off

but i have a friend that's been growing her dreads over 5 years (500 locs) and she told me that i should start latching my hair.. and i think that's what I'm going to do but i don't know if i should start latching them now, wait for more new growth, or wait until they loc up?

My hair is short in the front and long in the back and the front of my hair keeps coming undone, i retwist them a couple times a week but i don't want to over do it, so i stopped.. should i keep twisting them? Gettin a little scared.

Thanks In Advance.

Baking Soda and Gray Hair/Shampoos

General Questions

Sorry if I'm repeating a question that was already answered but I'm new to this site and I don't know how to search for my answers.

Anyways, I noticed some people complaining about baking soda turning their hair gray?? I was wondering why does this happen and is it possible that it will happen to me if I use it? I'm not ready for gray hair yet, lol.

My hair is thick and very coarse, nappy.

Also what are some good sulfate free shampoos? I have V05 tea trea therapy and Suave.

TIA.
