I use organic bar soap. I just rub it on my scalp and then rinse. So I didn't think the problem would be the way I wash my dreads.

its normal when u start dreads they will loosen and even fall apart 4 month is when theywill be looesest just leave em be they will tighten back up in a couple months
what r u washing with tho
My dreads are 4 months old now. They were created with backcombing and twist and rip. They've been doing pretty well until now when they're starting to get spots where the hair has come untangled. Its almost straight, right in the middle of the dread. You can actually pull the hair apart. This is scaring me. Why is it happening, and can I fix it!!!
Isnt the bar soap just for mature locks? Mine are only about 2 months old!

You should just about never wash your hair itself with locks. There are specialcircumstances where you would have to, but during your normal wash, you don't wash your hair. You wash your scalp.
Just take the bar and scrub your scalp with it, in between each lock and around your hairline. It's awesome. Better than any massage you'd do with your fingers. Then you rinse it out, and it runs through your hair cleaning it
HOw would I wash my dreads with that bar soap?

baking sida is a real deep clean that will strip the color right out..u could always go back to youe natural color and stop dying too
I have had my dreads for about 2 months, and I'm struggling with finding something to wash them with. I dye my hair red and the baking soda mix I have been using takes the color right out of my hair after 2 washes. I hated the KnottyBoy shampoos and want to go with something more like the bakingsoda/water/teatreeoil mix that I found on one of the forums. I just don't want to keep dying my hair after every wash! Help!
