Hair gone astray!

Help! Save My Dreads

Lol I got huge bumps on top now. If I try to pull my hair back it looks like I have ridges or something. Kinda like a dinosaur back

I'm Traddy and these are my dreads...!

Introduce Yourself

Dude your look is awesome and inspiring! It's possible that the scalpiness is from something you did, or could just be genetics. If its just genetics then keeping dreads will keep you hair looking good longer. Just think if you cut your hair short everyone would probably notice the bald spot, but now everyone sees your awesome dreads first!

Just For Fun

General Talk

Exactly 50, though a couple are starting to look like an upside down Y. I might split them when they get long enough if they really wanna be separate dreads

asian dreadlocks help

Introduce Yourself

I'm half Asian too with pretty straight wirey hair. I've noticed my roots are pretty long. Some over 3 inches, but they do lock up eventually. I'm worried about my tips too. Some has been almost completely straight like 3-4 inches worth.

My hair isnt locking!! HELP

Introduce Yourself

Everyone's hair is different so people will have different length of roots. Some will lock really close some will have longer, but they will dread. I got a dread perm 4 months ago and have straight Asian hair. I was scared of the same thing too. I have about 3 inches of straight hair, but it is definetly starting to lock now. It was a big relief. I know what you mean about being worried that it won't. Loctitions and wax wouldn't exist if there wasn't tons of people worried that it wouldn't lock.

judgement in early stages

Introduce Yourself

Baba is right, everyone judges others, it is hard wired into our brain. Being able to make quick judgements have kept us alive as a species. Unfortunately for dreadheads, most people have a negative sterotype of dreadlocks. I'm sure if you asked most people to play word association you would get stuff like, "drugs, rasta, weed, dirty, hippy, gangster, etc". The way I look at it though is that this gives dreadheads a keen awareness of what it means to be judged. Therefore we have a responsibility to be better then that and notice our own prejudices. Dreadheads should be the example others should want to be. However it is up to us to show this to others. Having just one person think " wow I was stupid to judge him just because of his hair" can change the world.

Friends Finally Noticing

General Talk

Exactly hippie love. That's why its funny how others view dreads. When it was forced and fake they liked it. Now that it is starting to get messy and recover they don't. Oh well, I like them no matter what
