Bs/ACV Wash.

Introduce Yourself

It may look oily for the first week or two. This is because normal shampoos strip your hair of all the natural oils it produces, so now that you aren't washing with that ur hair has to readjust the amount of oil. Does that make sense? lol bs/acv doesnt strip the hair but still cleans so after a transitional period (oily hair for about a week) your hair will become self-regulating

In preparation to grow locs

Introduce Yourself

6 inches is more ideal, it will loc up better. But I know some people who have gone from a bald head to dreads just by not combing... not combing is the most natural method to attaining dreadlocks. (also the best in my opinion) but in the end they all look the same once mature so long as you:

DONT USE WAX

DONT CROTCHET HOOK

DONT TWIST

haha those are the main things!!

It's good you are already washing with bs/acv because that is what you will want to keep washing with once you do loc up. You want to was 2-3 times a week depending on your own hair! Usually i just wash whenever my scalp gets itchy.

I would definitely say to do some research on the most natural method (sometimes called neglect) on here! Its a really awesome journey to see your hair transform without anything helping it along. But if you do in the end just want to back comb you should at least let your hair section itself. To do this: stop combing for about 1-2 weeks and ur hair should form into sections then back comb those individual sections. It's better for you do this vs selecting random bunches of hair because then ur hair can knot up where it likes ot be :-) Hope I could help you!

peace

split ends

General Questions

I haven't had a trim in about a year now. im almost six months into my natural journey. The back is all mostly dreaded but the sides haven't really knotted up. The ends of my hair is has a lot of split ends maybe 2 inches up. I have a lot of diff layers but over all my hair is probably about 12-14 inches long..I know when having normal hair (unknotted) split ends need to be cut for the hair to grow healthy.. I'm curious if this will halt my neglect progress and/or will make my hair grow slower?

I am not even sure how I could trim them properly without brushing my hair... which I don't want to do. Should I even worry about split ends? Will they eventually just be sucked up into the dread and my roots will be growing healthy?

Love and light to you all

Hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

peace

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I'm assuming you have hard water as well? Let me know how it works for you.

peace to you

I don't know. I have not used this method, but I think I will try it. I personally would not be too concerned even if it did. The more I think about it, I don't think it would, especially if it was strained as described. I am going to the Indian grocer in a couple of days, I think I will try it over the weekend.

peace

Do you know if this will leave residue in hard water? And thanks again for the info :)

Indian grocery store would be cheapest, just a few $ for 2kg, or something like that. Or health food store.

That sounds interesting!! Do you know where I could buy some? And how much it would cost?

Thank you all for the responses. I think I will keep using bs/acv until/if I see negative side affects. Maybe I will set up a paypal too and order a bar, since I have heard such great things!! You can even use the bars in hard water correct?
