Just starting with questions!

Introduce Yourself

Melosfear:

So when you guys talk about 'shrinkage' are you usually referring to length wise or dread thickness wise or both? I'm only curious because I've noticed quite a few (more then half probably) have become really tight and shrunk thickness wise, which I'm assuming isn't a bad thing at all, but should I also expect them to lose length? My hair is very thick and I've gained length since I started the process, so just wondering!

they actually thicken, getting fatter, but shink in length often drasticly

if they fire you within a year of having that conversation then you won

if they do not have something specific, and serious enough to fire you for .. then you got them

you are worried about customer complaints..customer complaints don't matter

just do whats right for you for your dreads .. your job is guaranteed to be secure

100% wrong and illegal

they cannot do that to you or you could sue and its a guaranteed win

stop trimming your beard, stop wearing hats.. if they dare try to fire you just tell them they cant according to title 7 of the employee rights act

https://www.dreadlockssite.com/dreadlocks-forums/forum/dreads-jobs-employment-issues/110594/dreadlocks-and-employement-laws-your-rights-to-wear-dreads-in-the-workplace-explained

that explains in detail your rights and what employers can, and cannot do

if it is not a safety thing then it makes absolutely no diference how much the clients complain. unless the employer can prove that your hair is costing them more business then makes up the entire administrative costs (including your bosses salary, his bosses salary and the ceo etc salaries) then customer complaints are irrelevant

if you were the only person on earth that believed urine and feces were for some reason holy, or sacred, then they could not fire you even if you  came to work every day caked in shit and piss

that's the truth.. that's the law.. ..and your rights

you cannot give up your rights without even trying to fight for them or you won't have any rights, nor do you deserve the rights you have

so you go to yours boss and tell them that under title 7 of the employee rights act you will no longer be wearing hats, nor covering your head.

you are growing dreadlocks according to a sincerely held belief and you will continue to do the best job you can do to be an asset to the company, but are unwilling to compromise your beliefs for job security, and now that you know your rights you realize you never had to to begin with

Will this hair ever dread? Feeling frustrated

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

nobody has ever had the entire head all progress at the same speed..just doesn't happen

always 1 part dreads faster then the rest..typically how you sleep affects what parts dread fastest.. but sometimes its texture or oiliness'

but 99% of the time its simply a matter of trying to sleep on that section

Will this hair ever dread? Feeling frustrated

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

as everyone pointed out 2 months is nothing

if it was 2 years then you can legitimately ask..will this ever dread (the answer would still be yes, but the time would be anyones guess)

at 2 months its very very likely to be dreaded in just another...wait for it... 2 months

3/4 of your hairs dreaded in just 2 months..thats fast

why do you think the other 1/4 wouldn't be dreaded in about the next 2 months?

Are these natural shampoo's going to be too oily and/or conditioning for dreadlocks?

Dread Products

they do look extremely conditioning

you see most shampoos have some form of water as the 1st ingredient (dreadlockshampo.com uses a highest quality organic beer instead of water) these have all conditioning oils as the 1st ingredients ..indian hairs prized for its smooth silkiness and stuff like this would keep it smooth and silky

Dreads unraveling!? Super frizzy

General Questions

tpage "]
  1. You think it's wax ? Don't retwist? As in my roots? If I don't they'll try to dread  together and I'll have to rip them apart. Ouch!

tearing them aparts easy if done often enough and while wet or damp

twisting the roots causes them to become very cone shaped with thick ends and gradually getting thinner and thinner as you get closer to the scalp

at the scalp  what you see is, way too huge of sections for the dreads (salons plan from day 1 on causing thinning and balding, so make the sections way bigger then the intended dread sizes), so the hairs pulled tight perpendicular to the scalp, and the scalp showing between dread sections.. as time goes by those gaps widen, the sections the hairs come from shrink a lil and the roots get incredibly thin.. often 2  ir 4 mm  while the tips are  1/2 inch or more

whats happening below the scalps surface is hidden, but this is whats really the biggest risk with twisting.. .remember those hairs pulled tight, perpendicular to the scalp? that's causing tension, which kills the capillaries that carry blood to the follicle.. the only living part of the hair.. and it dies

so between sections where you should have 10 hairs every 1 mm you now have 5-10 mm (i know i hate metric too but for tiny things its usefull) that doesn't have a single living follicle

in extreme cases the gaps can be inches wide, and the damage permenant without a hair transplant (and salons will go on twisting even after reaching a point of permenant damage

so now you have fired the salon.. great!

you recognize he problems.. great

you came to the absolute best place for real honest info.. great

and now all we have to do is correct the issues the salon caused (remove wax) and change your habits so you don't continue the harm the salon started

Dreads unraveling!? Super frizzy

General Questions

you must use wax b gone 1st to get that wax out then stop twisting entirely

wax is a scam! it is made to glue the hair together to make you think its dreaded, but won't alow  it to move and dread

twisting thins the roots, causes traction alopecia and balding

the reason the roots are matting is that's the untouched healthy  unwaxed new growth ..the only part the salon didn't screw with so the only part that can dread the way it should

how i separate is while wet just pull any 2 dreads away from eachother..very simple

nothing removes wax once its in..its in for life  well no wax b gone from www.dreadlockshampoo.com removes it i meant no washing 10 years of washing won't remove 1 use of wax

its really evil stuff and the fact that the salon used it for a year means that you should  demand a refund of every cent you spent there all year.. they will never learn..never stop destroying dreads until they have to pay you back the (you will be shocked at how much you paid them over the year) money you should never have paid them in the 1st place
